Hello FLASHERS!
A happy early Father's Day to our Dads! Dads you are a very special creation set to compliment and balance the mothers of the world ... together guiding, shaping, and sculpting tomorrow through the rearing of our children. There is no more important an occupation in the world. Below is a 'poem' given to my husband years ago. I enjoy its simplicity and sentiment and I hope you will too. May you all take a moment to thank your fathers this weekend for what they have instilled in you. There is no doubt that there are characteristics you possess solely because of the exact man your father is/was.
FATHER
A rock of strength to lean upon in time of joy or stress;
An understanding, loyal soul,
A heart of tenderness,
A mind all wisdom, Knowing how justice and love to blend;
A teacher, loving, patient, kind, My FATHER and my friend.

SURPRISING STATISTIC?
A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that 35% of the couples who married between 2005 and 2012 met online in venues including: Facebook, eHarmony, Match.com and others. The study also shows that those couples were also slightly more likely to stay together and enjoy marital bliss! Hmmm. Looks like the stigma around online dating is definitely decreasing. Even THE 'Martha Stewart' recently dipped her toe into online dating in a high profile way...on the TODAY Show. Could it be your 'perfect match' a click away?

IT'S ALL IN AN IDEA!
Now worth between 1.5 and 2.5 Billion FIND YOUR NEXT VACATION
AIRBNB.COM Airbnb is only 5 years old and has certainly made its way onto the travel map. This start up has taken flight and it looks like there is no stopping it. The essence of the business is simple....it is sharing your home with others. It works for both guests and property owners and can certainly help if you find yourself on a budget. Over 300,000 individuals have offered their 'abodes' or simply an air mattress on the site and 4 million guests have enjoyed that generosity. It might be a castle in Colorado, a Mansion in Miami, a London flat or an igloo in Greenland. You name the location and chances are you can find a host on airbnb. The business provides a 1 million insurance policy against theft or damage and relies on a review system. The site recently revamped that review system ensuring its users are who they say they are and that they have in fact stayed at the reviewed location. It's fun to just type in travel locations and see what comes up. With summer here....you might just be able to make your dream vacation a reality. Know of someone who will be doing an internship this summer and needs to find a short term rental. This might just be the spot to find it. Click Here to check it out! Watch a clip that was aired on the TODAY Show.

POSH PAD ~ WOW!Who doesn't enjoy sometimes seeing the excessive luxury of the elite and posh? This development in Miami is the life of the 'Jetsons' in today's world. The ever-changing Miami skyline is active again and developing, and gigantic cranes are prevalent after the problematic economy knocked the real estate market off course. (Miami resident, humor writer Dave Barry once said that Florida's State Bird should be the "Construction Crane!") The bird is back. The Porsche Design Tower Miami is currently under construction and offers something extremely unique. This 69 story development on South Beach includes an auto-lift system which brings a resident's vehicle to a personal garage that is adjacent to each unit. Not only that...most units include a balcony with a private pool and outdoor kitchen. The complex itself has its own game room, movie theatre, ballroom and car maintenance. Price you ask? Units start at $4.5 million and top out at $25 million. Any takers?

A POST FROM OUR ARCHIVES THAT WAS QUITE POPULAR
WHAT A TERRIFIC WEBSITE!
Our researcher happened on this site by accident when she wanted to be sure of the correct pronunciation of "poet laureate" ('et 'or 'ut'?). so she 'googled' it. (I wonder when the dictionary will recognize 'google' as a verb?) This site allows you to type in a word and then it speaks it for you. It might be a good site for your kids to know about if they have to give a speech in school. (By the way, it is pronounced law - re - et.) CLICK HERE

COOKING WITH BEER FOR FATHER'S DAY
Martha Stewart suggests substituting beer in place of water or broth in your favorite dishes -- pot roast, for instance, or braised short ribs. It gives them a more complex depth and heartiness. It's also excellent for steaming clams or other seafood. Beer is also great when used in a batter for frying; besides adding malty flavor, its carbonation aerates the batter. This makes it similar to the oriental tempura batter and it's delicious! For a quick easy batter recipe using Bisquick, Click Here. Meanwhile, check out the recipe this week for a Rockin' Oyster Rockefeller!

A CHUCKLE FOR FATHER'S DAY
THE DEAD SEA GULL
A father was at the beach with his children when his four-year-old son Bob ran up to him, grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore, where a seagull lay dead in the sand.
"Daddy, what happened to him?" Bob asked. "
He died and went to Heaven," his dad replied.
Bob thought a moment and then said, "Why did God throw him back?
