HAPPY THURSDAY FLASHERS!
...And an early Happy Mothers' Day to all of our FLASH mothers!  What a great idea President Woodrow Wilson had in 1914 when he declared that Mother's Day should be celebrated as a national holiday on the second Sunday in May. There are few others who truly deserve to be honored in such a way. A mother is a unique creature. Who else possesses the softness, kindness, love and understanding as she? However, mess with this tender woman's youngins' and a 'mother bear' of all bears will emerge with the strength, courage, and fight that only a Mother can possess!
Such describes my Mom  to a 'T'. Some of you who have been subscribers for a while have been introduced to her before.  Other FLASHERS have been somewhat introduced whether you realize it or not.  My Mom is my right arm with FLASH and my researcher extraordinaire! She is a wiz and can manipulate the internet in a way that I have never seen. She's no spring chicken and is still incredibly involved in life and isn't about to slow down or let us youngins'  pass her by. She is the mother to 5 daughters and 3 step daughters. Her parents were in the movie theatre business when she was growing up and that love of film is in her blood! She stays up-to-date on all of the leading ladies, men and films. Politics? Oh yea! Don't get her started! She's an avid fundraiser, party planning fanatic, and activist. She's been a contributing columnist for a local social magazine in Miami and her stories always bring a smile! As a matter of fact...I think I will begin to share them onMOM FLASH. She is an inspiration to all who know her. She is a real pro and is unsurpassed at turning life's lemons into the sweetest lemonade!  She has survived lung cancer (12 years clear), colon cancer (10 years clear) and very recently was diagnosed and underwent surgery for a new colon cancer. But, as she says...She's 100%! Broken femur and ankle may have slowed her, but oh my....only in pace ~ Not in intelligence, enthusiasm, and kindness. Her name is Suzie Claughton Schmidt (Sunshine to her grandchildren) and I share her with all of our wonderful FLASHERS!  She's my mom and she is amazing! She will soon be moving to Vero and I plan to host a Festive FLASH BASH and you're invited!
Celebrate your Mom this weekend and let her know how much she means to you! If you
aren't as lucky as I to still have your Mom with you...Cherish those memories and know that you can never really be separated from a mother's love!

FLASH WEEKEND PROJECT
Everything Old Is New Again!

You know all of those 'blah' florist vases you have stuck under your sink?  Give them a dose of life by providing a punch of color? This is so easy to do! First you have to clean your vase really well. Then just pick your color scheme. Next squeeze paint into vase and roll vase to cover the entire area.  You might want to help it along with a brush. Leave the vase on the side and continue to rotate every few minutes to give the inside a thick coat. You can pour/drain any excess paint. Painting the inside gives a very nice dimensional aspect to your new vase. You will want to add a coat of water resistant sealer if you plan to use as an actual vase. ENJOY!

May 15, 2013

Help Mom take years off her looks and feel better about herself. Moms you can even treat yourself to this one! This week's FLASH Deal offers a  series of 3 Full Face Pelleve treatments at a 40% discount saving you $480.

Pelleve has received a great deal of attention in the past year because of its effectiveness. It is a radio frequency FDA cleared aesthetic device that gently delivers heat into the skin to stimulate new collagen. This causes immediate tissue tightening and collagen remodeling over time. This treatment is a great way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles without going under the knife. Feel free to check out what has been said about Pelleve on such shows as The Doctors, Dr. Oz, NBC, CBS~Good Morning America, The Shape and more. Click Here. You will see the results and hear different suggestions for the recommended necessary number of treatments. You will also see that the cost offered by Center for Facial Aesthetics at the regular rate is already much less than what is mentioned and the 40% discount makes it a definite value not to be passed up.
WHAT CAN MOM EXPECT?
* A subtle gradual change of tissue tightening over time.
* Smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, such as crow's feet and facial laxity.
* The results continue to improve over time. New collagen stimulation is the skin causes additional tightening and improves skin texture.
* Results are subtle but noticeable. This does not look like you had a facelift. It is a more natural tightening effect.
* The results can last six months or several years depending on the treatment regimen.

QUOTE: "Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm."

FLASH TIP OF THE WEEK
12 USES FOR DRYER SHEETS
(Mothers...You'll enjoy these tips!)

The little box of dryer sheets that sits in your laundry room can do so much more than just freshen your laundry. Who knew this little sheet could be so versatile?

1. If you need to deodorize your sneakers, place a dryer sheet inside each shoe overnight.
2. Place a dryer sheet under your car's front seat and it will freshen without being too strong.
3. Remove dust and static electricity by wiping your TV and computer screens with a used dryer sheet. The same reason the sheets eliminate static cling from your clothes will help prevent dust from re-settling.
4. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors and faucets. Clean with sheet.
5. Place a used dryer sheet in the bag of your vacuum to put a fresh smell throughout your house.
6. If you need to get paint off of your paint brushes, place them in warm water with a dryer sheet and watch the paint come off each bristle.
7. Clean hard baked-on foods from cooking pan. Put a dryer sheet in the pan, fill with water and let sit overnight. Particles will be easily removed.
8. Keep suitcases musty free. Place sheet in suitcase before zipping up and putting away until your next vacation.
9. If you brush your hair and it is just standing straight out then stroke your hair with the sheet to get it to calm down.
10. If you find gum or a sticky adhesive in your dryer, wet a dryer sheet and use to scrub off sticky residue.  It will loosen the stickiness without damaging the interior of your dryer.

FLASH FITNESS TIP OF THE WEEK
Presented by: CHRISTI'S FAMILY FITNESS

THE BENEFITS OF EPSOM SALT
Staying healthy isn't just about exercising and eating right. It is about taking care of your body from the inside out. Here is a special tip for our mom's on Mother's Day (but really it's for everyone). Take a bath in Epsom salts at least three times a week. Though the name implies that it is a salt...it isn't. It is a mineral comprised of magnesium and sulfate. And while we've long known that it's pretty amazing at easing sore muscles, it does a lot of other things pretty well. It helps eliminate toxins in the body. The Epsom salt will help replenish the magnesium levels in your body and the bath will help you relax and rejuvenate your body and soul.

According to the National Academy of Sciences, American's magnesium deficiency helps to account for high rates of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis and joint pain, digestive maladies, stress-related illnesses, chronic fatigue and a number of other ailments. Up your magnesium intake and let go all your worries with a nice luxurious soak in the tub. Now say AWWW!

KEEP YOUR DUVET COVER IN PLACE
Although a duvet cover does an admirable job of protecting a comforter from stains, it is notorious for being a shifty character. Martha Stewart has this neat solution. Keep it and your comforter neatly in place by turning the cover inside out and sewing two pieces of five-inch-long fabric tape to all four corners. Then tie the fabric tape around each corner of the comforter, and sleep tight.

Isn't it nice that the tide is changing and property values are on their way up? Whether it's homes, condos or lots, we have seen a steady increase in sales as inventory continues to decrease.  What does that mean? That means that as inventory continues to decrease, prices continue to inch upward, but there are still bargains to be had. You can see the breakdown of last month's sales versus total sales since the first of the year in this recent sales report from the County Property Appraiser, David C. Nolte.

Two Realtor Teams Volunteer

With  Indian River Habitat

Last week, a volunteer team from Alex MacWilliam  Inc.,
MacWilliam Team: Patty Valdes; Karl Dietrich; Alex "Buzz" MacWilliam, III; Lundy Lundmark; and Roger Smith
Real Estate  in Vero Beach and a second team from Santana Real Estate in Sebastian worked on two homes in Habitat's Oslo construction location.   On the construction jobsite, volunteer teams such as these typically work alongside either the homebuyer family for that very house or a homebuyer who is gathering enough Sweat Equity hours on someone else's house so that he or she can begin working on their own. It is always an exciting day when a homebuyer begins to actually help build his or her very own home.

John Carroll High School was proud to nominate Savannah Geary as the Woman of the Year, in the Rising Star category for the Junior League of Indian River County.  The JCHS senior was nominated for demonstrating outstanding commitment in her community with fresh ideas, energy, and enthusiasm!

Savannah was honored at an awards luncheon in April at the Moorings Club, along with the other distinguished nominees and winners.  This talented and philanthropic young woman is committed to helping others.  She is an Altar Server at St. Helen Catholic Church, volunteers for Youth on a Mission and Habitat for Humanity, and tutors those in need.

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK
FROM DELORES SCHUBERT: Reply

The National Association of Letter Carriers' Food Drive is set for this Saturday, May 11. Harvest Food & Outreach Center will once again be a recipient of donations and has put out a call to the community for volunteers to help sort donated food at the Vero Beach Post Office at 2050 13th Avenue in Vero Beach, from noon to 5 p.m. that day.

This effort requires many helping hands to sort and box the donated food so that Harvest can distribute it to hundreds of struggling families in Indian River County. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and wear closed toe shoes. Sunscreen, hats that shade the face, a folding chair and snacks are recommended. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Kristin Sposato at 772-559-2240 or email commrelationsvb@harvestfoodoutreach.org.
