FLASH BEAUTY TIP OF THE WEEK Sponsored by:
SPRING SKIN CARE TIPS
Nothing cheers people up more than the weather turning warm! The coming of spring can be noticed all around. The change in weather and environment also mean it is time to re-evaluate your skin care regiment. Changes made in preparation for winter's reality will not be suitable for the freshness of spring. Here is how you can make sure you put your best face forward as the world outside begins transforming from gray to green.
When you start to notice more of an oily feeling throughout the day, it is time to begin working in a lighter weight moisturizer instead of the heavier ones that help fight the dryer cold weather conditions. Pick one up with an SPF protection of 15. More spring sun means more exposure to UV light. Color trends also change with the season...So refresh your look. A licensed skincare professional can help you make the best choices for your skin type so you don't waste your money on the wrong products or ineffective products.
It is also a good idea to swap out any other product you use on a regular basis if it hasn't been replaced since before winter. The shelf life on skin care products is not infinite, and you will receive better results with fresh products, than ones where the formula inside has been subject to light, and varying temperatures. Nothing is better than spring cleaning your toiletries and cosmetic holders.
Nutrition is the basic building block to any skin care system. Spring time is the easiest, and cheapest, time to take advantage of fresh, green vegetables and fruits. Capitalize on the growing season of asparagus, baby greens like spinach, and strawberries. If you can afford it, try increasing the organic foods in your diet. The less toxins and pesticides placed on your food items, the less residue left for your spleen and liver to process.

Dr. Joyce Desrosiers Named First Recipient of the 'Braveheart Award'
For her "extraordinary service to U.S. troops and to the Military Moms Prayer Group," Dr. Joyce Desrosiers has been named the recipient of the group's first annual "Braveheart Award," given jointly with I'll Never Tell jewelers. Pam Proctor, president of the Military Moms Prayer Group, and Pauline Adams, owner of I'll Never Tell, presented the award to Desrosiers on Thursday, February 28, at a packed meeting of the prayer group at Christ Church Vero Beach, which hosts the group every Thursday from 5 to 6 p.m. "Joyce was the unanimous choice for this award," said Proctor. "She answered the call to take over our outreach to the troops, and the program exploded year by year." Since the prayer group was started in 2006, said Proctor, more than 10,500 boxes -- 7,000 on Desrosiers' watch alone -- have reached the troops from Indian River County and beyond.

MARCH FISHING CALENDAR(The darker the fish...The better the fishing)
|
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Roasted cauliflower & white cheddar dip!
Ingredients
- 1/2 small head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 tablespoon oil
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon thyme, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 cup aged white cheddar, shredded
Directions
- Toss the cauliflower in the oil with salt and pepper, arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast in a preheated 400F oven until lightly golden brown, about 20-30 minutes.
- Puree everything in a food processor and pour into a baking dish.
- Bake in a preheated 350F oven until the sides are bubbling and the top is lightly golden brown, about 20-30 minutes.
Tip: Make the dip the day before and just bake on the day of the party to save some time on a busy day. Note: If you do this it will require 10-15 minutes extra baking time since it just came out of the fridge and you will know it is done when the sides are bubbling and the top is lightly golden brown. You can vary the above by adding roasted mushrooms and/or carmelized onions. |
