CHRIS KYLE

DEFINITELY A POSITIVE PERSON
Most Lethal Sniper in American History
Perhaps you caught a glimpse of the news this past week of one of our fallen heroes...and then again...perhaps you didn't. Chris Kyle passed away on Feb. 2nd at the age of 38 having been gunned down by fellow veteran Eddie Ray Routh at a Texas shooting range. Forgive me if I am a little politically 'incorrect' this week...but as you have come to realize I have the deepest appreciation for our military. That appreciation is an expectation that I have for all Americans and is one that I certainly believe should span from the left and right as a unifying force. I believe as a nation we fell far short this past week in our national display of appreciation for Chris Kyle. Undoubtedly he is deserving of so much more than any message that I convey with my limited ability to manipulate these words, sentences, and feature that I offer.

Chris Kyle, husband to Taya and father to two young children, exited the lives of his fellow Americans, friends and loved ones with much less fanfare than I personally believe he deserved and which was wholeheartedly our responsibility to deliver. If you learn details from this feature in our local publication then hopefully you will agree. Chris Kyle was a Navy SEAL sniper who served four tours in Iraq, was shot twice and was known as the most lethal sniper with far more 'kills' than any other soldier in American military history. No small feat! He saved countless American lives and the Iraqi insurgents feared him so much they placed a bounty on his head and titled him "Devil of Ramadi." How surreal and unthinkably sad that a Veteran of his stature did not capture the headlines of the national news more and failed to be recognized by our President during the State of the Union address on the exact day that Chris Kyle was laid to rest. A time and speech when so many "regular Americans" find their way into the speech. The preceding 10 days were also void of any public expression of condolence or mourning by our nation's leader to mark Chris Kyle's passing.

This only becomes magnified when compared to conscious decisions previously deemed worthy of such expression. For example, I believe something is dreadfully wrong with our priorities when we reserve such expression for a music legend such as Whitney Houston who too unfortunately tragically passed away. However, that is where the similarity ends. On one hand you have an extremely talented entertainer whose coroner's report states that she died from an accidental drowning in her tub with cocaine in her system. On the other hand you have an individual who served his country in one of the most respected special operations forces. Not only did he serve, he was unsurpassed, he was the finest, the greatest,  the creme de la creme. He received Bronze and Silver Star medals multiple times for his tours in Iraq; yet shockingly he received no verbal recognition nor appreciation from our President...Guess who did. Whitney Houston who also had the NJ Governor, Chris Christie, call for flags to be flown at half-staff. Thank goodness that seven thousand Texans turned out and filled the Cowboy's stadium expressing their respects, condolences and appreciation. I am one American who wishes she was there!

After leaving the Navy in 2009 to spend more time with his family, Kyle continued to help and protect his fellow men and women of the military. Yet another example of the honor of this American hero. He established a nonprofit to give in-home fitness equipment to physically and emotionally wounded veterans. The Director of the non profit has said that Kyle and Littlefield (another who perished that day)  apparently had been helping Routh, the assailant,  work through post-traumatic stress disorder. After retiring, Kyle wrote "American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military." The book guides the reader throughout the course of Chris Kyle's life, right from childhood till his retirement in 2009. Through the pages Chris enabled the reader to enter his world giving them an inexplicable glance into a life that is totally different from an average human being and quite worthy of our praise and appreciation!

THANK YOU CHRIS KYLE! YOU ARE AN AMERICAN HERO AND A VERY POSITIVE PERSON!

In honor of Chris Kyle please deliver cookies next week

DID YOU KNOW?
To estimate the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit, count the number of cricket chirps in 15 seconds then add 37. This only works of course when crickets are about and accurate down to 55 degrees or so. Below that crickets aren't about or aren't in the mood for love.
DID YOU KNOW?
Oh my goodness, - A two for one this week...
Crickets chirp by rubbing their wings or legs over each other. It is only the males that make the noise and they do so to attract a mate!

IRS College Tax Credit for Students 2011 2012
TAX TIP
American Opportunity Credit Extended Through 2017
The American Opportunity Credit which was started in 2009 for the parents of college students has been extended through 2017. The credit is worth up to $2,500 on the first $4,000 of qualifying educational expenses, which include course materials as well as tuition. The  credit applies to all four years of undergraduate college education. This credit is gradually reduced (or "phased out") for income from $80,000 to $90,000 or $160,000 to $180,000 for joint filers. The tax credit is not available for people with incomes above the phase out range. Up to 40% of the credit is refundable, meaning that it can generate a refund larger than the amount of payments you made. Students may claim this credit if you are over age 24 as long as you meet the other requirements, e.g. are not claimed as a dependent on someone else's return, are attending a degree program half-time or more, and have not already completed four years of college.

Keep Your Lips Kissable
&
Line Free for Your Valentine

Q. Why do lips thin as we age?
A. Lips are fuller in younger people because of collagen. When you get older there's not so much collagen produced and it breakdowns... Kind of like a deflated balloon.. and since there's less tissue, you get thinner lips.

Prevent and Repair
Lips that are dry or flaky automatically look thinner and more wrinkled than they are. "Skin makes less oil as we age, and lips are at a unique disadvantage because they don't have an epidermal layer, which is where oil is produced to begin with," says Paul M. Friedman, M.D., a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Bringing back moisture is the key to keeping lips looking smooth, even, and full.

Tip: Try using your favorite eye cream around your lips at night and use Sunscreen Daily to prevent breakdown of collagen.

Products to Try: Image Skincare's Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex $17, Vitamin E Oil $8

Repair:  Injectable fillers like Juvederm can help lessen the appearance of wrinkles filling in the lines and adding volume back to lips where volume has been lost over time.

Cost: Juvederm $550 for one treatment that last about a year.

My family and I recently moved to Vero Beach from South Carolina, and we love it here!  I currently hold a temporary position that expires in May as a Farm Technician at the USDA - Horticulture Lab in Fort Pierce.  I am actively seeking a new position that utilizes my extensive experience as a supervisor in the field of sheet metal, copper, and plastics manufacturing. I also have some experience in sales and marketing. Since we are new to the area, I do not have many business contacts and would greatly appreciate any assistance/leads in my job search by replying above.  Thank you!
