 Merry December FLASHERS! Wow! We are nearly a full week into December and only 19 days before Christmas. For our Jewish friends, Chanukah begins this weekend. Since we think it is important to share our religious traditions with each other, we have included the post below that will help you become a little more familiar with Chanukah.
Tomorrow, December 7 is Pearl Harbor Day. On Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, the American Army and Navy base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was attacked by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The attack came as a surprise to the American Army and Navy and resulted in the loss of more than 2,400 American lives. The Americans also suffered the loss of a great number of their battle ships and nearly 200 aircrafts that were stationed in the Pacific region. The day after the attack, the United States declared war on Japan and entered WWII. President Franklin Roosevelt, in a speech to congress, stated that the bombing of Pearl Harbor is "a date which will live in infamy". We encourage you, as customary, to fly the flag at half-staff to honor those who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor. There is a Memorial Service in Sebastian at Riverview Park at 12:30 tomorrow.
FYI - Half Staff or Half Mast???? A flag or ensign flown from a ship's rigging is placed a half-mast; a flag flown on land from a flag pole is placed at half-staff. |

Chanukah begins this Saturday, Dec. 8th and ends Saturday evening Dec.16th. We found a terrific website that has the history, ideas for celebrating, recipes and much more that will tell you everything you might want to know about this holy Jewish holiday. Click Here

I thought that we could talk about the impact of color this week. Though geared more to home sellers, this is helpful info for homeowners as well. Paint is one place you can put your dollars where it will reap huge rewards...if you choose wisely. A fresh coat of paint does wonders and will not only color your walls, but will paint the mood of the room. The pallet of you home will either make others feel:
* comfortable, relaxed, and calm
* energized and alive
* anxious and uneasy.
The message is in the color you select and that selection will greatly influence that all important first impression. So, you want to choose wisely. Click Here to visit an HGTV site that I found that discusses the psychology of color. I think you will find it fun and interesting. Once you click through, click on the larger picture to display additional photos and tips. ENJOY!

BROWN PAPER PACKAGES TIED UP WITH STRING THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS!
This is a fun idea that might take some planning! I think it would be a great idea to unearth some old holiday photos to top the gift. If you have siblings how much fun would it be to unearth an old family photo when you were little and in matching PJ's???

THE SCOOP ON CHRISTMAS LED LIGHTS
SWITCH TO LED LIGHTS! Have an even greener tree this year by making the switch to LED lights. They also work well on your outdoor lighting display. They use about 90% less energy which is good for the earth as well as your power bill. Called LED lights because they use 'Light Emitting Diodes (We don't know what that means either!). There is no glass to break and because they're cool to the touch, they can decrease the chance of a home fire! You can find them at your local hardware or home supply store and they will last indefinitely.

We outlined a heart on an apple and a star on another. Such Fun! Here is a link to visual directions. ENJOY
