editor's note poka-dot

It's almost the middle of October and our little community is beginning to hum!  So much going on as you will see in this issue. Please take some extra time to focus on the event feature postings. They all seem like fun things that as a community we can support and I hope you will choose a couple and do just that. There are great charities behind most. An incredible number of hours of been donated behind the scenes to make sure you enjoy yourself at whichever event you attend. So, go and do just that...ENJOY yourself! As an aside... with Halloween still a few weeks away, you might want to hide that Halloween candy you bought early. If your experiencing what I am, it is beginning to disappear...are there ghosts in the house?

VICE PRESIDENT DEBATE TONIGHT - 9 P.M.
After President Obama's lackluster performance in the first presidential debate, Democrats are placing their faith in Vice President Joe Biden to regain momentum in tonight's debate against Republican candidate Paul Ryan. The debate will cover both foreign and domestic topics and will be divided into nine time segments of approximately 10 minutes each. Since Biden is known for being a rather 'loose cannon', tonight's match could turn out to be a lot of fun to watch!

DOES YOUR DOG HAVE GOOD MANNERS?
Teaching your dog good behavior isn't always easy, but it doesn't have to be a "do-it-yourself" job. You might want to consider a dog obedience class, or you may even find a trainer that will come to your home. In the long run, it will probably save you time and be money well spent. We found a website that can help you to find a trainer near you. To view all, be sure to scroll down. Click Here

NOTE: If you have a new puppy, be sure to check out the website below.

IS THIS A TREND?
We have noticed what appears to be a trend among celebrities that we haven't seen mentioned in any fashion articles. Above are pictures of some actresses at the recent Emmy awards. Notice that all of them are wearing different necklines, but none of them are wearing necklaces.  Just a few years ago, the red carpet  interviews included questions about the jewelry a celeb was wearing, usually loaned to them by a prominent jeweler, but no more. Does this mean necklaces are going 'out'? We don't know, but to view more Emmy fashions without necklaces, Click Here
NEW PUPPY?
We love this idea!  It makes a lot of sense, but the mental picture it gives us is pretty funny! The Miami-Dade Animal Services suggests that when you introduce a new dog to your home, do this: Get down on your hands and knees and view each room as the dog would.  Look around for hazards and items that you don't want your dog to have access to and move them to a new level. We know puppies especially like to chew, so look for electrical cords, items on low coffee tables or open shelves, and shoes or children's toys. For a pup like the one pictured, the only thing you can do is keep the bathroom door closed!

Brownie Troop 50102, which is led by Troop Leaders Abby Lefebure, Denae Linnartz, Stacey Ford and Susan Waller, is comprised of 14 second and third graders and was formed in October 2010 and meets twice monthly.
