Give to Outreach Through the United Way
The United Way Contributor Choice Program is a valuable source of funding for Outreach Teen & Family Services. By simply entering code #126 on your pledge form at work, you can help an adolescent in your community with school-related issues, family problems, depression, anxiety, anger management, and drug and alcohol issues.

Outreach Teen and Family Services is a non-profit, community based teen counseling agency. Founded in 1974, we provide professional, confidential, affordable counseling to young people ages 12 to 21 and their families. We see clients for a variety of concerns from anger management, family problems and school related issues to depression, anxiety, and drug and alcohol issues.

All of our counselors hold a minimum of a master's degree in counseling or social work. Clients are seen within a short period of time from the initial request for services.

Funding for Outreach is provided by the Mt. Lebanon Municipality, Allegheny County, fees, foundations, corporations, school contracts, businesses, civic and religious groups, fundraisers, and individual donations.

Select Outreach counselors are credentialed providers for Highmark and UPMC Western Behavior Health private insurers. If necessary, we can also provide services on a sliding scale fee.

Art in the Park

The Mt. lebanon Sunrise Rotary Club and the Mt. Lebanon Police Association will hold the 9th Annual Art in the Park in Mt. Lebanon Park on October 2 & 3 from 10 am - 6 pm. The event features more than 50 artists, several food vendors (including Outreach's hot dog stand), live music, children's activities and more. Perfect for a fall family outing, this regional event highlights artisans from Pittsburgh and beyond and includes exhibitors in the following categories: oil, watercolor and pastels; textiles and weaving; needlework and florals; glass, ceramics and jewelry; photography and woodcarving and furniture. The event serves as a charitable endeavor for community organizations in the South Hills. Join us for a day in the park!
Outreach Fundraisers

highmark walk photoHighmark Walk for a Healthy Community
The 8th annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community was held on May 22, in Schenley Park. The rainy weather did not stop thousands of walkers from participating in the annual fundraising event, which benefitted 58 nonprofit organizations from the Pittsburgh region. Outreach had 87 walkers and
raised $3,195. We've already been invited to participate in next year's walk - our goal is to have 100 walkers and raise $5,000!

Mt. Lebanon Classic Car Show
Classic car enthusiasts  enjoyed the hot weather and cool cars at the 15th annual Mt. Lebanon Classic Car Show on June 27. While strolling along Washington Road admiring the beautiful cars, spectators stopped by Outreach's hot dog stand to grab a bite to eat.

Counselors' Corner

Outreach's Expansion at PTI
We are excited to announce that we now have two Outreach counselors at Pittsburgh Technical Institute. Stacie Sebastian, MA, NCC, and Marty Murray, M.Ed, are at PTI four hours a day Monday through Friday. They have participated in student orientation and PTI's annual Health Fair. They will continue to participate in student orientation, provide information to students through PTI's newsletter, and look for ways to support the students as navigate their way through PTI.

Allison Park
Elmore Lockley, MS, Board Eligible NCC, will be returning to Allison Park Elementary School in the Chartiers-Houston School District. He will be working with students from kindergarten through 5th grade in classroom groups discussing a variety of issues including bullying, personal space, and friendship. The administration, teachers, and students are happy to have him return this year.

Welcome Nicole Zampini
Nicole Zampini, MSPC, CPRP, was hired to fill a position at the Kids at Risk Effort (KARE). Nicole completed her Master's in May of 2006 at Carlow University, and has worked at Renewal, Inc., and Peoples Oakland. We are excited to have her join our counseling team.

Outcome Measurement
outcomemeasurement
An Outcomes Measurement Committee has recently been formed at Outreach. Outcome measurement will help us in a number of ways:
1. To make sure our programs really make a difference to kids and their families
2. To help our programs become as effective as they can be
3. To retain and increase funding that is critical in the world of grant proposals
4. To improve Outreach's image in the community
5. To use our outcomes as a way to market our current programs and expand our services

Outcome measurement is a daunting task, but also very thrilling. So far, the committee has been learning about the process of measuring outcomes and the logic model.
The committee will start with the KARE program as the pilot measurement project. We will keep the Outreach Community informed about this process through letters and meetings. We anticipate this project will take about 12 months to complete.
