Eyes on the Brain

Neurologist Sue Barry discusses vision and the brain. Her book
is now available as an audiobook.

In her most recent blog post, Dr. Barry discusses how what our eyes see depends on what our brains expect to see.

Many children and adults have challenges interpreting visual information, whether it's understanding the written word or searching for a toy on a crowded shelf.

Do you, your child or someone you know experience visual confusion or problems with visual efficiency? If so, we can help! Call us today at 301-951-0320 or use our handy "Request an Appointment" online form.

Help Us Spread the Word About Vision and Learning!

COVD The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) is helping to educate the public about the link between vision and learning.

At the VCDC, we are doing the same- Dr. Green and Dr. Zeller are available for free lectures at schools, PTA meetings, and other venues to spread the word about the link between vision and learning.

If you have a group who would benefit from a presentation, please email [email protected] to arrange the time and date!

5 Different Eye Doctors Said Her Vision Was Fine... "Maybe Shelby Just Isn't Very Smart"

Eight-year-old Shelby was struggling to read at a first grade level, but her mom just wouldn't take "not smart" for an answer. A developmental optometrist diagnosed Shelby's Convergence Insufficiency, and after a course of Optometric Vision Therapy, Shelby was able to read at grade level. The full story HERE.

How could so many doctors miss Shelby's vision problem? Find out November 1 at VCDC

Thursday, November 1, at 7pm will be the first lecture this Fall. Drs. Green & Zeller or a guest speaker each month will discuss vision, learning, and related topics.

RSVP at 301-951-0320 or email [email protected].

"Stereo Sue" Featured on PBS

Neurobiologist Sue Barry, known as "Stereo Sue" after she overcame a lifetime of strabismus and developed stereo (3D) vision after being treated with Optometric Vision Therapy as an adult, is being featured on The Secret Life of Scientists and Engineers on PBS.

Why is Sue on a trampoline with a ball on a string?
