Top 25
The Tri-fecta

The 2016 year of power has included stretches, strengthening exercises, swing drills, and power tips that center around the body and specifically, the pivot, as a source for power. But clearly this is not the only source. Before we get into this month's tip, take a look at these other power sources you will want to incorporate.

Relaxed arms: The more relaxed they faster they move.

Wrist hinge: The cocking or setting of the lead wrist in the backswing can increase the circumference of the arc thereby increasing club head speed.

Trailing arm as a power accumulator: For more information, and this is my favorite, come get a lesson!!

Width of swing arc: A wider arc simply has more potential energy.

Release: Transferring the stored energy through proper forearm rotation is absolutely a power move.

And Path

Do you notice a theme here? These power sources involve the hands, arms and shoulders which together form a triangle, and WOW, there is power in that triangle!

(Oops, did I forget lag??!!)

*******************************

Now, back to generating power from the body, the core and the pivot with this month's swing tip, the TRI-FECTA. For the right- handed golfer we will concentrate on the right hip, right shoulder, and left leg to multiply power for the above mentioned triangle.

Remember this mantra:
Right hip back,
Right shoulder down,
                         Left leg straightens.

Follow this tip, in order, to multiply power in your golf swing:

First
Think of your right hip rotating back to initiate the backswing. As long as the right knee stays flexed, rotate the right hip internally as much as you can for your backswing load up move!

Second
Initiate the down swing by tilting your right shoulder downward and towards the ball. With the right shoulder being in a passive and soft state, allow the weight to move forward towards the target as you tilt.

Third
As the weight or pressure is moving into the lead side of the body you must feel the lead or left leg beginning to straighten and firm up as a power move to and through the ball.

Check us out on Facebook to view several power move videos this month.

Next month, the triple crown stretches for power.
