A Year in Review
It is hard to believe another year has come and gone. There is no stopping Father Time! I hope that when you look back over the year you find you were able to meet many of your personal golf goals. In 2013, I took a different approach with the monthly newsletters as each edition focused on a tip that did not demand range time but definitely demanded attention, and we thank you for yours! The three most popular tips over the past eleven months based on email, blog, private lessons, and teacher feedback were:
#3 April 2013 - More For Your Core. For those readers with access to physio balls, this tip is a must for the glutes and the abs.
#2 July 2013 - Ten Penny Tip. If you are still having problems learning to strike the ground with the orbiting club head, please give this tip a try.
#1 January 2013 - Hand-Eye Coordination Part 1. Learn to throw a ball at a ball!
As I begin to close the final chapter on 2013, I am immediately challenging myself to focus on continuing education. I will spend four days in Orlando in January at the National Teaching and Coaching Workshop. That same week, I will also attend the outdoor demo day sponsored by the PGA to truly test what is hot in our industry! Expect the January Newsletter to be a brief summary of these workshops.
The 2014 Newsletter campaign will get back to some of my grass roots in golf knowledge and instruction, much of which, most of you know, I credit to the late Homer Kelley and his book, The Golfing Machine. Some topics you can look forward to next year include:
- The forward lean of the shaft at impact (The Law of the Lever)
- The back inside quadrant of the ball (The Law of the Incline Plane)
- Release motions (Rhythm)
- The steady head (An Essential)
- Strengthening the subconscious mind (More Mental Discipline)
Happy New Year from the entire Classic Swing Golf School team! It is my hope that you are all blessed with good health, prosperity, happiness, and of course - great golf!
