Hand-Eye Coordination Part 2

Last month, we discussed simply throwing a ball at a ball and how this drill could possibly enhance the hand-eye coordination of a golfer when done correctly. This month we present two more drills that do not involve hitting a ball, yet can definitely enhance the hand-eye coordination that helps golfers hit the ball more precisely. If you do not have a ping pong paddle and ping pong ball, use a tennis racket and tennis ball and/or your sand wedge.

We will start with the ping pong paddle (or tennis racket). To improve hand-eye coordination, simply

bounce the ball off the face of the paddle as many times in succession as possible.

For maximum coordination, do both right and left hand repetitions and rotate the handle to bounce  the ball off both the front and back of the paddle. This is a great exercise for golfers because it requires patience and concentration, especially when attempting to rotate the handle.

Drill number two takes the same concept of bouncing the ball off a racket or paddle and applies it to bouncing a golf ball off the face of your sand wedge. Wrist strength, focus, relaxed arms and concentration are all needed to complete this task. You can be confident your hand-eye coordination is improving when you can bounce the ball off the clubface multiple
times!

My goal this year is to provide you with some golf related drills that do not demand range time yet still enhance your game. These two do just that.

For next month, a 65cm physio, or exercise, ball will be needed. If you do not have one or do not plan on getting one, you will still learn a lot from the core strengthening tip.
