WOW! We have come to the end of another year! Can you believe it is time to review your 2010 goals and begin your plan for 2011? For those of you who remember my suggestions in the December 2009 newsletter, I hope you jotted down your goals to look back on at this time. This process makes you accountable for your actions over the past twelve months. The idea behind goal setting is to start a process which provides direction. In other words, if you have no idea where you are going, how are you going to get there?
If you are like me, you may not have accomplished all of your goals in 2010 or maybe you had to adjust them. When thinking about setting your goals for 2011, keep in mind that good goals:
1) are attainable (must be realistic)
2) are measurable (like your weight, your scores, or your time)
3) have time restraints (weekly, monthly or quarterly check points)
4) involve some sacrifice (designed to enhance, not deter from, specific areas of your life)
5) hold you accountable (put someone or something on the line that rewards accomplishment)
6) are prioritized (rank your goals with level of importance as to which must be accomplished first)
7) are fun and exciting (this will impact your attitude)
When I reviewed my 2010 goals, my number one priority was passing the PGA Teaching certification program for Class 'A' PGA Members. This took sacrifice! It was a personal challenge, but it immediately opened the door to my number one goal for 2011, attaining PGA Master Teaching certification. Obviously, these are business and personal goals that lend credibility to the Classic Swing Golf School. An annual goal of mine is to increase my mobility, flexibility, and stability in hopes that it will increase my quality of life. Again, this takes time management since I am also a husband and a father to five beautiful children. It means my alarm clock goes off well before theirs! Here is a motto that works well for me, "Early to bed, early to rise, work like heck and exercise."
For those who have purchased my new DVD, "From Putt to Drive," thank you for the awesome reviews, and yes, I did intend for this DVD to be interactive with the need for note taking. Keep the remote handy and from time to time, put me on pause to make note of something that may help you during your next practice session. Also, for those who have asked, I am the creator of the Distance Drill Technique discussed on the DVD. If you have not already purchased this instructional video, the cost is $29.95 with free shipping through January 31, 2011. Also, remember that our Happy Holiday club special of 15% off and free shipping on any golf club orders or repair work continues until January 31st as well.
We will begin the 2011 newsletters by focusing on energy transfer and power in the January edition. Happy New Year to each of you!
