Officially the summer solstice is in two days, though summer has already begun for students. MedStart summer camp is in motion now in Bozeman and very soon in Missoula and Great Falls. Congratulations to all the participants!

 Happening Now! MedStart Summer Camps
The list of ninety attendees for MedStart Summer Camp 2013 can be reviewed by clicking on link HERE. These students were selected from a group of 180 applicants to fill camps in Bozeman, Missoula, and Great Falls. The Bozeman camp is happening now, June 16-21. The Missoula and Great Falls camps take place June 23-28. The campers will have two days of job shadowing in local healthcare facilities and will be certified in CPR/First Aid.

North Central AHEC and Native H.Y.P.E. Leadershi p Program
Native H.Y.P.E. is a leadership program for American Indian students in Montana, Wyoming or surrounding areas. Forty middle school students, entering 7th - 8th grade, will be selected to participate in Native H.Y.P.E. from July 8th - July 12th on the Salish Kootenai College campus in Pablo. Native H.Y.P.E. promotes healthy decision making, positive peer communication, healthy relationships, culture and tradition, physical activity and empowerment. Native H.Y.P.E. will also explore healthcare through exciting hands-on experiences led by current healthcare professionals.

From Education to Industry - Career Pathways
Renee Harris, OPI Health Science Education Specialist, will be presenting on Montana's Career Pathways System Vision at "From Education to Industry," a workshop geared at aligning student coursework with business and industry needs of Montana. The June 20 workshop, sponsored by Missoula College, Missoula Job Service, and Missoula Chamber of Commerce, will be facilitated by Debbie Mills, a trainer from CORD, The Center for Occupational Research and Development. The objective of the workshop is to develop Career Pathways that bring students from high school to college and into the Montana workplace. Teaching Genetics to Your Students
At yourgenome.org you ca n find a range of resources from Flash animations to paper and web-based activities, which will support the teaching of topics such as DNA, genes and proteins, cancer and the Human Genome Project. The activities and animations are designed to complement the national curriculum and GCSE, AS and A-level Science specifications for 14-19 year olds and can be used during lessons and science clubs or used for setting homework tasks.
This section is regularly updated with new animations and activities which reflect the work of the Sanger Institute, but also have strong links to the National Curriculum. For more, click here.
