Greetings!

 

Kick off the Holiday season with us this weekend, as the San Diego Flute Guild hosts its annual Holiday Flute Choir Concert!    

SDFG Holiday Flute Choir Concert
Sunday, December 16th
3:00pm
Please join us this Sunday, December 16th at 3:00pm at the Wangenheim Middle School Auditorium.  Admission is FREE, and we will have some holiday treats available post-concert!

We will also be raffling off some beautiful poinsettia plants donated by Pacific Coast Jazz and flute goodies from Lyricraft.  Proceeds from the raffle go directly to our SDFG Scholarship Fund.

Music will include Christmas Carols, Hanukkah Songs, and more. We hope to see you there!

Spring Flute Festival
Sunday April 21, 2013

Join us for our 2013 Spring Flute Festival at San Diego State University's School of Music & Dance, Featuring Guest Artist ALEXA STILL.  We are in the process of selecting our 2 Festival Clinicians to add to the fun!  Applications for our Festival Divisions(Elementary - College & Adult) and Young Artist Silver & Bronze competitions will be available in January 2013.  Required repertoire lists can be found on our website.
2013 SPECIALTY DIVISIONS

PICCOLO DIVISION
10 minute time limit (including set-up & tuning)
Entrants will present one or two pieces that demonstrate ability. This division is open to any piccolo player who is a member of the San Diego Flute Guild. There is no age limit.


ORCHESTRAL EXCERPTS DIVISION
15 Minute time limit (including set-up & tuning)
Entrants will present the four excerpts listed on our website. This division is open to any flutist who is a member of the San Diego Flute Guild. There is no age limit. This audition competition will be screened and the adjudicators will not know who is performing.

Young Artist Silver & Bronze Competitions
Sunday April 21, 2013

YOUNG ARTIST SILVER PRIZES
1st Place: $150
2nd Place: $100
3rd Place: $75

YOUNG ARTIST BRONZE PRIZES
1st Place: $100
2nd Place: $75
3rd Place: $50

The Young Artist Silver and Bronze competitions are designed for students who are interested in a higher level of competition. These divisions are open to any flutist who meets the age criteria and is a member of the SDFG. Persons wishing to participate in the competition may join the SDFG upon entry and do not need to live within the greater San Diego area. The required repertoire for the Young Artist Bronze & Silver divisions is listed below and will be performed live at the 2013 Spring Flute Festival.

The Texas Flute Society is honored to announce its sponsorship of two fantastic competitions: the 2nd annual Donna Marie Haire Young Artist Competition for high school students (grades 9 through 12, or the equivalent) and the 28th annual Myrna Brown Competition, for all flutists and with no age limit!
