Fall Muster: October 17th and 18th!

Join the Friends of Gettysburg for the 23rd annual Fall Muster. The Fall Muster includes battlefield tours, lectures, Friends of Gettysburg merchandise, a banquet lunch, and the latest news about the Gettysburg Foundation. The two-day event of tours and programs will be held at the Gettysburg National Military Park (GNMP) Museum and Visitor Center; located at 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg. PA 17325.

On Friday night of the Muster weekend, a special program is held; this year, we welcome GNMP Chief of Museum Services Greg Goodell presenting "A Museum for All." Then, on Saturday, battlefield tours are held; members enjoy one three-hour tour in the morning and one three-hour tour in the afternoon with lunch included in-between tours. For more information and for a listing of the Saturday tours, visit our website or call 717-339-2148.

Project Update: Home Sweet Home Motel

In 2002, the Friends purchased the Home Sweet Home motel property and turned it over to the National Park Service for rehabilitation. In May 2003, the motel was demolished to return the critical piece of battlefield land closer to its 1863 appearance. Earlier this month, another modern intrusion was removed from the site! Thanks to donors and Friends, the Gettysburg Foundation was able to hire Met-Ed to remove an utility pole from the site, further opening the viewshed of 1863.
