Volunteers Prepare for Spangler Farm Opening

 

The George Spangler Farm Civil War Field Hospital Site will be open this summer Friday-Sunday from June 6th-August 10th. The Farm will be open each of these days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with access by shuttle bus only, leaving from the Museum & Visitor Center every half hour. Gettysburg Foundation Volunteers will be greeting 

visitors as they arrive at the Farm as well as directing them through the various activities throughout the day. On Sunday, May 4, 14 Volunteers received hands-on training at the Farm.  The training was conducted by Gettysburg Foundation's Director of Marketing, Communications and Visitor Services Cindy Small and Volunteer Manager, Ray Matlock.

Friends of Gettysburg Photo Contest

 

To celebrate the Friends of Gettysburg's 25th Anniversary, we are calling on our members to participate in a photo contest! Winners of the contest will be featured in the 2015 Friends of Gettysburg calendar. For full rules and instructions please visit our website.

 Courtyard Chats at the Rupp House

 

Every Saturday evening at 7:00p.m., the Rupp House will feature a talk in the courtyard. The talks are free and open to the public. Each week will be a different topic including: 

Generals, Senators, Nurses,Children,

Surgeons, 

Civil War Medicine, the Soldiers Diet, Aftermath of Gettysburg, Prelude to Gettysburg, Children of the Battle, and many more.

 
Located at 451 Baltimore Street in Gettysburg, the Rupp House is always free to all visitors and features interactive exhibits, activities, and events throughout the season. Come and visit John and Caroline Rupp's home on Fridays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is also the go-to place to purchase the latest Friends of Gettysburg merchandise! 

Open Enrollment Program for 

In the Footsteps of Leaders 

 

Join the Gettysburg Foundation Leadership Program on Friday, September 12, 2014 from 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. for a full day on the Gettysburg battlefield, learning from Gettysburg's most famous leaders, and being inspired by the courageous actions and decisions of soldiers at every level.

The fee for this program is $300.00 per person and includes the following: a ticket to "A New Birth of Freedom" film and Cyclorama experience; snacks; drinks; boxed lunch on the battlefield; leadership instructional program book; Licensed Battlefield Guide fee; administrative, on-the-field staff support, bus transportation and a debriefing session in the Ford Motor Company Fund Education Center at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center.
