Recap: Spring Muster 2014 
On April 4, 5, and 6, more than 250 participants joined the Friends of Gettysburg for the annual 2014 Spring Muster. The weekend provided an abundance of Friends camaraderie, battlefield tours, and Civil War programs. 
Highlights from the weekend included: 
 
From top left: The Susquehanna Travellers kicked off the weekend with a foot-stomping performance on Friday evening; battlefield tours and lectures were offered on Saturday by Licensed Battlefield Guides Garry Adelman, Sue Boardman, Guillermo Bosch, Chris Brenneman, Dave Donahue, Joe Mieczkowski, Wayne Motts, John Zervas , and National Park Ranger John Hoptak; the Hillebrand Rifles used the Muster as a family reunion and had three generations with them; Retired National Park Service Chief Historian Scott Hartwig shared his experiences working with the Friends over the years at the Saturday Evening Banquet; seven First Corps members were recognized at the First Corps Breakfast on Sunday morning as being long-time members since 1992, these members include: Jeff Anderson, Bruce Kramer, Susan Anderson, Cynthia Mason, Evelyn Booth, Dick Sawhill, and Pat Fowler.

Join Us for the Friends of Gettysburg 

25th Anniversary Celebration

Join fellow members of the Friends of Gettysburg in celebrating twenty- five years of preservation, education, and dedication on June 30th and July 1st! The Friends of Gettysburg will be hosting a variety of celebrations and tours to reflect on the past twenty-five years of accomplishments and look forward to many more years. The special anniversary events will begin Monday, June 30th with a selection of five different tour options to choose from; and evening Friends celebration at the newly acquired Pennsylvania National Guard Armory Complex on Monday evening; and casual evening reception and discussion of the Future of the Friends at the George Spangler Farm on Tuesday evening.

The Courtyard Chats at the Rupp House

 

Starting this weekend, the Rupp House will feature a talk in the courtyard every Saturday evening at 7:00 pm. The talks are free and open to the public. Each week will be a different topic; including: Women of Gettysburg, Medicine during the Civil War, Food for Our soldiers, Aftermath of Gettysburg, Prelude to Gettysburg, Children of the Battle and many more.

 
Located at 451 Baltimore Street in Gettysburg, the Rupp House is always free to all visitors and features interactive exhibits, activities, and events throughout the season. Come and visit John and Caroline Rupp's home on Fridays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is also the go-to place to purchase the latest Friends of Gettysburg merchandise!
