Registrations Now Accepted for Educators' Conference
On July 30, 2014 the Gettysburg Foundation, in partnership with Gettysburg National Military Park and Gettysburg College, will welcome 50 Middle School Language Arts and Social Studies teachers from underserved communities to Gettysburg for the second-ever Richard Bartol, Jr. Educators' Conference.
Part of the Gettysburg Foundation's Education 150 initiative, this conference is the first in a series of three educational outreach efforts aimed to equip educators in underserved areas to connect their students to the American Civil War and connect its history with Common Core principles.
First launched July of 2012, the Richard Bartol, Jr. Educators' Conference is a multi-day immersive experience on the battlefield and in the classroom that will leave teachers with curriculum tools, first-hand experience and inspiration from experts in the field. To enable teachers to attend this 4-day conference, most-expenses have been covered by generous donors.
Registrations are now being accepted through April 14. Middle school Social Studies and Language Arts educators from underserved or Title 1 schools in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington D.C. are encouraged to apply.
