Good day to All!
Today is Halloween, so those of you traveling home this evening after dark, please be very careful of those little trick or treater's, who may be out. Often costumes are dark colored and very hard to see. If you are in the area of the Dine-ah, please come in and see the girls all dressed up and bring your kids in for a Dine-ah treat. No need to dine, just come in and say hi. Trivia Wednesdays will be starting up again January 8th, 2014. We considered starting it earlier but with the holidays, we decided against it.
I'd like to thank Chef Meagan Rogers for our weekly features. This weeks feature is Chicken & Rice Fiesta,a jalepeno tomato rice topped with a grilled chicken breast with melted cheddar on top. According to Chef Rogers, when asked if it tastes spicy,she said on a scale of 1-10 (ten being spicy hot, it 's a 5)
Don't forget to "Fall Back" this Sunday, daylight savings time ends at 2 am Sunday so set your clocks back one hour or you will be early for work on Monday!
How about those Red Sox?? From a last place finish, 26 games out of first place to World Champions in one year! Who would have believed it and who, if anybody, could have predicted it.
My take on this whole thing, and I am not an avid baseball follower, is chemistry. If you saw the Red Sox players after they won American League Championship and the World Series, you saw a bunch of grown men giving each other genuine hugs. Almost as if to say "we did it!" As players at the end of the World Series were interviewed, you heard how at the beginning of the season they talked about playing so that the greater Boston/ New England community would be proud of them. Did the bombing at the Boston Marathon have anything to do with the teams success? I would guess that it did. It gave everyone something to rally around and with a new coach, a new GM and many new players, the chemistry was developed that was safe, supportive and unstoppable. They believed in themselves and they got the job done. I was so happy for the life long Red Sox fans who were in attendance, who finally got to see their team win a World Championship in Fenway Park for the first time since 1918. It is safe to say that no one was in attendance to see both of these victories. It was a long time coming and congrats to Red Sox nation! After some changes in my daughter Leslie's travel plans, it is looking like she and her husband Abhi and baby Devi will be arriving in Maine sometime around Thanksgiving. I can't wait to hold my granddaughter for the first time. Abhi will be returning to India in December and Leslie, Devi and I will be headed back just after the first of the year. Our plan is to attend the International Kite Festival held in Ahmedabad on January 14th. Millions of kites will be flown from rooftops and I have been told it is quite a sight. Leslie and Abhi have attended this event at least once and were hoping someday I would be able to see it. Well, 1/14/14 is that date and I am so looking forward to it. We are going to take a train from Goa to Ahmedabad which is about a 12 hour trip. Can't wait for the adventure and to see all of their friends once again.
