Good day to All!
On August 2nd, Bridget Conlogue, a waitress at the Dine-ah was involved in a serious car accident in Augusta. An oncoming vehicle crossed the center line striking another vehicle in the side and eventually hitting Bridget's car head on.
Bridget sustained injuries to her head, arm and back. Bridget has no memory of the accident and as of this past weekend, she was in very good spirits,
while still a patient at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Bridget underwent at least one surgery to repair her broken arm and crushed elbow. She has also been fitted with a back brace to deal with, what I believe is a fracture in her back.
During my brief visit, on my way back from Funtown, Bridget seemed as sharp as a tack and as feisty as always. I have just learned that she is deferring her first semester at USM however she does plan on attending the second semester next January. We are all hoping for a full and speedy recovery. If anyone wants to send well wishes, simply send them along with your answer to the trivia question and we will see that Bridget gets them.

This accident goes to show you that things can happen quickly and be absolutely no fault of your own. It's a good thing Bridget had her seat belt on and that cars have the safety features that they do. If not, we surely would be looking at a different result. So make sure you buckle up every time you get into a vehicle and NEVER disable your air bags. I have to believe that they saved this little girl's life.
On a brighter note, this past Sunday was our annual G & E Roofing get together at Funtown for employees and their families. The weather was fantastic and a great time was had by all. Some 160 staff and family members attended and below are a couple of photos of staff members with children and grandchildren.

Seventeen more days until Labor Day. At 8 pm on Labor Day, we will be closing China Dine-ah Too for the season.
We plan on reopening next June. This first year has proven difficult in getting the traveler headed Downeast to stop. Our challenge is that we are new, the speed limit is 50 miles per hour and you are on the facility before you realize it. Many travelers have told us that they went by and turned around and my intuition tells me that the other 4 or 5 kept going and may give us a try on their return trip or possibly next year. All in all, it has been a successful season (slower than we had hoped) with the people that have dined with us, really enjoying the chicken, seafood, and burgers. We have heard many times from customers that we have the best scallops and lobster rolls that they have ever eaten. The light breading on the chicken has also proven to be a big hit. With 8 or 9 months to rethink marketing and signage, be assured we will hit the ground running next June.
Thanks for your continued support of both eateries and I will see you around.
Hope you all have a good week.
