Good day to All!
I'm hoping you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. I've heard from many of you and that is always nice. Ours went off without a hitch and we all ate to our hearts content. When we were done eating, and the clean up was complete, we had time to rest before the 8:30 pm NFL game of the week featuring our New England Patriots vs. New York Jets. I'm happy to report that the Pats won easily and this week face Miami in Miami.
As I mentioned last week, my three nieces, Emily, Allison, and Hannah, were up from Kennebunk for Thanksgiving dinner and the oldest, Emily, had a special request. She wanted her older cousin, my son Kyle, to take her for a ride in his pick up truck. She was too shy to ask Kyle, so the request went from her Mom, to my wife, to me. I posed the question to Kyle, as he laid on the couch, recuperating from his overindulgence of food. When Kyle said yes in the presence of the girls, you'd have thought they won the lottery. They were all smiles and immediately started to locate their coats. You had to be there to really appreciate it. It was one of those special moments, when the three girls, ages 14, 10 and 8, realized they were going for a ride with their older cousin, of whom they look up to. It is also my understanding, that they all want pick up trucks when they get older. Must be the cool thing, really not sure. Watching them head out the door made my day and I'm sure it made theirs.
Wednesday Night Trivia Winners
Congratulations to Dave, Wendy, Toddy and Carol, of the Wednesday Trivia Night team "Three She's and a He", who won last nights first Trivia Night of the season! Come out and play next week on Wednesday December 5th from 6:30 to 8, for fun and the chance to win fabulous prizes! Trivia Nights are hosted by Jon James of 92 Moose. December is historically a slow month in the restaurant business, with potential patrons saving their money for Christmas, which is understandable. It is hard on our staff because when they need the money the most, ie; for Christmas and filling the oil tank, we are the slowest. Thankfully, with gift cards sales in December, business picks up in January with people redeeming those cards. If you get a chance to come in during December, you can almost be guaranteed a front row seat and the ladies will be as appreciative as ever.
In my effort to help staff, in addition to what we already do at Christmas, I will be returning 10% of all gift cards sales in the month of December back to staff. This way everyone, including all of our loyal supporters from afar, will be able to participate in helping your favorite servers through this slower time, while at the same time, working on their Christmas list.
As an added precaution, be aware of road surfaces for we have yet to have our first snow event. Plan ahead and leave plenty of time so that you can drive according to the conditions. Wherever you are headed, all of us here at the Dine-ah want you to arrive safely.
As always, I enjoy hearing from you.
Wishing you all the best!
