FFCC'S FIRST TRIP TO INDIA!

FFCC traveled to northeast India to the city of Siliguri and Nagrakatha, West Bengal on invitation of the District Officer of Child Welfare. They were so impressed by the resources FFCC has provided to Africa, the Caribbean, South and Central America, Japan and Afghanistan. They shared the incredible need for food and safe water in the tea gardens. They directed us to meet with the Sub-Division Officer in Malbazar and a member of the Legislative Committee in Matelli, Jalpaiguri. They were so grateful for our visit and committed to help FFCC in every way possible.  Here is what they are working on:

  • Exempting our shipping container from port fees and taxes.
  • Prioritizing and expediting our containers through port.
  • Providing ground transportation to the future food distribution points and warehouses to store and distribute the goods.

The Legislative Committee Member will be meeting with the President of India on September 24th to present our request. They are very optimistic that all will be granted because the need is so large. FFCC has teamed up with a local non-profit organization in Siliguri who FFCC has been working with for years. To date, FFCC has provided small amounts of food and water filters. This non-profit will assist and oversee future distribution once we get the logistics worked out.

I'm excited that it appears another country has opened its doors and desires to partner with FFCC.  Many more steps need to be taken before we are ready to ship our precious resources, but the most difficult step is always the first.  FFCC spent time visiting a couple of different tea gardens and saw first-hand the need for food and safe water. I'll keep you informed on the progress being made, but get your bags ready for future trips to India!

If you have a desire to work with us in this country, please email Phil at philffcc@san.rr.com. We will set up an informational meeting to begin planning and working together. What amazing people and so welcoming to FFCC!

 OCTOBER FOOD PACKAGING EVENTS!

This fall season is a busy time for FFCC.  Be sure to look over our calendar for opportunities where you can join us.  We have three food packaging events lined up in October.  The sponsors for these events have worked diligently to raise the funds needed to purchase the food ingredients, supplies and shipping costs necessary to get these meals distributed to local families and to the needy in Tanzania.  We are working with them now to register their volunteers for the event.  Once they are registered, we will open these events up to the general public so you can sign-up to join us.

Below are the dates that you can go to our website (www.ffccsd.org) to register to volunteer.  We will post the link to the respective events on the home page of our website.  The only event that will remain private is the Azusa Pacific University Event as that event is for the college students on that campus.

Ayiti Academy Fundraiser, Friday evening, November 15, 6:30 pm

Lexus Center, 1250 Auto Parkway, Escondido

Share an evening with FFCC as we celebrate the Ayaiti Academy and the impact it is having on the Haitian students who are a part of it. We will also introduce you to a new group of high school graduates who have qualified for the 2014 Academy. It is our hope to help them pursue their dreams through higher education.  Below is a letter written to FFCC from one of the 2012 Ayaiti Academy students.

Dear FFCC,

I hope you and your families are well . Today I am very happy and it is a special day for me to continue to thank you, to thank FFCC and all the sponsors . Right away after my classical studies in 2010, I am obliged to come to Port-au-Prince with the aim to continue my studies . Unfortunately , I spent two years doing nothing because of economic  problems. But, Jesus, in his love, has set me on the path to FFCC and today I am at the university. All glory to God, I am the only member of my family who has had the chance to go to the university.

Now, I am on vacation, I just finished with the first year and I am on the list of the best students. Despite the various difficulties I confronted such as: computer, food and other, I did my best to succeed this year. It was for me a good experience. The second year is coming soon.

I am sorry, I really have nothing, nothing to offer as a gift to FFCC. But, I hope you know that I love you very much and I understand how hard you work to help Haiti. That is why I ask God to give you the

wisdom, health, intelligence, opportunity, and love in everything you do.

Thank you!!!

God bless you.

Reginald Applon
