CYMER'S FIRST FOOD PACKAGING EVENT WITH FFCC!

Early this past Saturday morning, 130 Cymer employees, friends, and family members met in the parking lot turned food packaging center. In an hour and a half, Cymer packaged 30,000 meals. Volunteers were dancing, singing along to the music, and having a great time. Before we knew it, all the meals were packaged and clean-up had begun. The FFCC team was extremely helpful, encouraging and fun to work with. Cymer employees are already excited about our event next year!

Cymer was founded in 1986 here in San Diego.  The company  has been the lithography light source leader for over 25 years.  Used by chipmakers worldwide to pattern advanced semiconductor chips, Cymer technology enables new consumer electronics from smartphones to televisions. There are approximately 1200 employees at Cymer.  FFCC appreciates Cymer partnering with us in our Fight Against Hunger!

Be sure and join us downtown at the Salvation Army on Saturday, August 10th for our next food packaging event.  You can register now on the website- www.ffccsd.org.  The food being packaged will benefit families affected by the tornado in Moore, Oklahoma as well as those in need in Tanzania.  We are also collecting the items shown below to send along with the food to help the Oklahoma families.  You can bring these things to the food packaging event or drop them by the Poway Dream Dinners (12218 Poway Road, #100, Poway 92064).

For Moore, Oklahoma families:

Baby wipes

Shampoo

Soap

Snack food

School supplies

No clothing items please. They have plenty.

CONGRATULATIONS, DOCTOR RUMENS SAINTUS!

Rumens lives in Haiti and has always dreamed of being a doctor. He graduated from high school in Haiti, which is a huge accomplishment since less than 20% of students in Haiti make it this far. He scraped up enough money from family, friends and work to go to medical school in the Dominican Republic (DR). He chose the DR because the training and education was better than in Haiti. He was doing great in school but after 1.5 yrs. into his education, his money ran out. He came back to Haiti disappointed but never gave up on his dream. He heard about FFCC and the medical work that FFCC was doing in his community. He volunteered his time and worked alongside our doctors and medical team. There were many on the team who were very impressed with his passion and heart to care for the Haitian people. Some FFCC team members committed to provide the financial support to complete his education and training. In June of this year Rumens graduated from medical school and is now Dr. Rumens Saintus. He is so thankful for the support and encouragement over these past couple years from FFCC not to give up on his dream. His recent note to FFCC said,

Dear Phil and the FFCC team,

I want to thank for your support. I'll not able this goal without your determination.

I'm going to practice in Haiti.

i want to give my knowledge and medical experience to FFCC,i would like to integrate the medical team,to work and share my knowledge.

Rumens

What a joy and blessing for FFCC to be able to play a part in this man's life and share in the impact he will make in hundreds of people's lives in the years to come. If you would like to invest in a student and support them through FFCC's Haiti Academy program please contact Norma Silva at njsilva@yahoo.com for more information.

TANZANIA TRIP CELEBRATION AND HIGHLIGHT VIDEO

Last weekend, FFCC's June Tanzania team invited the community to join them in celebrating all that was accomplished this summer on our trip to Tanzania. We had approximately fifty people come to see the project displays, hear our stories and watch a terrific video highlighting our trip. We thought you would enjoy watching it. The video is produced by BadCab Producations and there will be more to come as we partner together to tell the story of FFCC and the impact our community is making both here and abroad.

You can watch the video on YouTube by clicking this link:
