JOIN US FOR A CELEBRATION!

Sunday evening, July 21st, join us for a celebration of the impact of FFCC in Tanzania at the Grace Lutheran Church patio and multipurpose room (643 W. 13th Ave, Escondido 92025), 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.

FFCC has recently returned from Tanzania, Africa and we have MUCH to share about the doors that are opening and the opportunities we are being given to impact this country.  You are invited to attend this celebration. BadCab Productions will be presenting a short video documenting our work in Tanzania. There will be project displays, testimonials and a trip overview.  Appetizers and desserts will be served.

Bonnie McHeffey, a Poway High School senior, had this to share about her experience in Tanzania this summer-

"I believe in dirt! I believe that the dirtier you get the better.  I wore my dirty clothes, shoes and feet as a badge of honor.  I believe that the amount of dirt that is permanently caked onto my feet shows how hard I worked and how hard I played!  It shows that I got out of my comfort zone and that I touched some lives.  At the end of the day, just as athletes compare their bruises, I compared my feet (albeit to myself) and I prided myself if they looked really dirty.  I loved their dirt. I come away with a belief in dirt because I left a part of my heart buried in the dirt of Nkungi Village."

Please r.s.v.p to Tina Socha at tina.socha@san.rr.com if you are interested in joining our celebration.  We hope you can make it!

YOU CAN HELP!

FFCC is working with a single Dad and his four daughters. He's a hard-working, responsible father who has fallen upon some hard times due to a back injury while at work a year ago. Now that he can't earn his full salary and he is behind on all his bills, including the utilities.

The girls are interested in activities that have payments coming up. The oldest is an incoming Freshman at RBHS and would love to go to Volleyball Camp. This would require a payment in mid August of $170.

Also, we are looking for a "porta crib" for a family who will be caring for a grandchild in their small space. He also needs clothing in size 18 months. Gently used items would be appreciated.

If you can help with either the RB family or the Grandparents, please email Becky at ffccsdlocal@gmail.com.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JEAN MENTANE

On Saturday, July 6th, the surgery to remove the life threatening goiter from Jean's neck was successfully completed. The family texted thanking FFCC for making this possible. Jean was sent home from the hospital the following Wednesday. Jean's daughter said she began to complain of stomach pain.  The doctor determined there was blockage in one of her intestines and required immediate surgery. The emergency surgery was performed on Saturday but due to complications that we are still waiting for the details on, Jean passed away Sunday morning.

For those of us who knew Jean personally, we are brokenhearted over her death and for her family.  This passage from 1 John 3:16-18 encouraged my heart,

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother or sister in need but has no pity on him or her, how can the love of God be in him?  Let us not love with words or tongue but with action and in truth".

I know that Jean has passed from death into  life, and I was so grateful for the love the FFCC family showed  her and her children.   Please continue to pray for the family.  We will continue to stay in touch and will be returning to Haiti in November.  Thank you for the "action" of love you provided for Jean and her family.
