ADOPT A FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS!
FFCC is already working towards holiday support for families this Christmas, with hopes of assisting 75 local families or more. We are closely partnering with the PUSD Adopt a Family Program, as well as Casey Family Programs. Anonymous wish lists have been provided by local families in need. Please contact Becky at [email protected] if you would like to shop for a family before December 13. If you don't have time to shop, please consider a monetary donation to FFCC or a gift card for gas, Target, or Wal-mart. Contact Becky for more info. |
CLEAN WATER FOR CHRISTMAS WITH IMPACT H2O!
Are you looking for a gift for that person who has everything? FFCC has a great solution- the gift of clean water to help a family in Haiti or Tanzania! The primary sources for drinking water in these countries are often contaminated, and can result in severe outbreaks of typhoid, cholera, and other illnesses, which often lead to death. FFCC's Impact H20 project provides for the installation of .1 micron water filters, which filter all harmful bacteria from contaminated drinking water. These water filters, when properly maintained, can provide a lifetime of clean drinking water for families currently suffering from the effects of contaminated water.
Consider joining forces with FFCC this Christmas to provide a family (or families) with clean drinking water this Christmas. A contribution of $75 will provide a family with an installed water filter, hands-on instructions for maintaining it, and a follow-up visit from FFCC's team to make sure it's working the way it should.
Contact Pam Long ([email protected]) if you need more information. Thank you for making an IMPACT! |
AYITI ACADEMY NIGHT AT VINTANA!
Thanks to all of you that made our first ever FFCC fund-raiser a success! On November 29th, over 100 of our dearest friends and supporters gathered to support the Ayiti (Haiti) Academy, a multi-phase program that supports the goal of higher education for the youth of Haiti. Because of people like you, many young adults will realize their dreams of a college or trade school education. They will be empowered through their own achievements to help others in their country. Education is the best gift that we can give.
Through your combined efforts, we raised a total of $10,163.00!
A $5,000.00 donation was made in support of the orphanage to assist with the building of the girl's dormitory that will house 100 girls.
$5,163.00 was raised from the silent auction items and straight donations to be used to support the Ayiti Academy.
Three students were sponsored that evening. We now have a total of 10 students that have been sponsored and that are seeing their dreams of higher education come to a reality! We still have a total of four students that are awaiting a sponsor to assist them in this dream. If you are interested in sponsoring one of these students or you would like more information about the Ayiti (Haiti) Academy, please contact Norma Silva at [email protected]. Thanks again for your continued support. May you all have a wonderful holiday season.

KOFFMAN-LEARY MEMORIAL FUND
Lisa Hosking is an FFCC volunteer who recently traveled to Haiti with our medical team. She sent this note:
"My ten year old daughter's best friend, Gabby, who joined us at the Poway Parade Day food packing event in September, suddenly , and without warning, lost her father to an undiagnosed brain tumor. These are really amazing and kind people."
Gabby's father, Michael, passed away on November 10th. He was 44 years old. He had no life insurance or policies that would take care of his family in the event of something like this. He is survived by his wife and Gabrielle. A trust fund has been set up for Gabby. If you would like to help you can make a donation to FFCC. Please designate your donation to Gabrielle Koffman-Leary Trust Fund. |
FFCC IS GOING TO NEW JERSEY - JANUARY 19, 2013
FFCC is joining forces with the New Jersey and New York community to host a 250,000 meal Food Packaging Event. These meals will benefit those impacted by super storm Sandy. To date, our FFCC community has committed over $26,000 towards this effort! We would like to invite you to join us in New Jersey. We will not only be packaging food but the venue will also be a donation center for much needed items for the families who have been displaced. There is a need for food, blankets, space heaters, and more. Over the next week or so, we will provide all the necessary information on our website, and we will also send an e-newsletter special bulletin once the details are finalized.
The website will give you the timing of the event so you can make necessary flight arrangements, and we will also provide suggestions for lodging. Mark your calendar for January 19th! We are continuing to accept donations towards the event. You can designate your funds to Jan 19th- New Jersey. If you are interested in traveling to New Jersey, contact Tina Socha at [email protected].
