SAN DIEGO COUNTY FIGHTING AGAINST HUNGER!
Poway, Carmel Valley, Solana Beach- San Diego County has been busy packaging nutritious meals for families in need. Here are some highlights from our last three events.
Poway Youth Soccer
On September 30th, hundreds of soccer players with their coaches and families descended upon Lake Poway Park for their opening day festivities. Along with the carnival and team photos, the teams participated in FFCC's 41st food packaging event. The kids raised the money necessary to package 25,000 meals to help local families and families in Haiti. Ginger Couvrette, the Director of PYSL, said, "It is so valuable to expose our kids to the needs of others and to demonstrate how they can be a part of the solution." The teams packaged food for three hours, and it resulted in three pallets of nutritious meals ready for families in need. Thanks PYSL and have a great season!
Real Living L
ifestyles Real Estate
Real Living Lifestyles hosted their annual Community Service Fair on October 6th. FFCC was one of the organizations represented, and together with Real Living Lifestyles and the supporting community we packaged 60,000 meals! Mark Loscher, COO/CFO announced, "This day of giving means so much to all of us. Each year we close our offices, and together - agents, owners, and staff - participate in this special service event to benefit the community.
We appreciate the example that Real Living Lifestyle is as they tangibly demonstrate ways to engage in the needs of our community and specifically with FFCC as they help with our Fight Against Hunger.
Saint James Catholic Church
This past spring, the youth from St. James Catholic Church in Solana Beach traveled to the Dominican Republic and took our Fight Against Hunger meals with them. They saw firsthand the impact that this food is having on hungry families and came home to say, 'We have to do more to help'. Last Sunday, St James hosted its first food packaging event, and what an amazing show of support they had. Hundreds of church members volunteered their time and resources, and together we packed 40,500 meals! They plan to continue their efforts to battle hunger in our community and beyond and have already scheduled two more events for 2013. Congratulations St. James on hosting such a successful day!
FFCC is working to put together the calendar for 2013. If you would like to sponsor a food packaging event for our community, contact us today and we'll put you on the calendar. Email Phil Harris (philffcc@san.rr.com) or Tina Socha (tina.socha@san.rr.com) for information.
