Dear FFCC Team Member,
100,000 Meals and Toys for Japan!
As we are closing in on our 24th Food Packaging Event on Saturday, May 14, FFCC is honored to be able to help ease the suffering of thousands of people in Japan through our gift of food. Our goal is to package 100,000 meals with volunteers, like you, from all over San Diego, serving along side our homeless community downtown. These meals will make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of children and adults in Japan.
What's amazing is that a donation of only $20 will provide 80 meals for the people of Japan. There are still volunteer opportunities available for all ages. You can register on-line at www.ffccsd.org. .
If you are unable to volunteer but still want to partner with us you can
assist by making a financial donation through Pay Pal or send a check
payable to FFCC and mail to 12463 Rancho Bernardo Rd. PMB 158, San Diego
92128. We are also taking new toy donations that will be given to children
in Japan now living in orphanages. You can bring your new toy(s) donation
to Dream Dinners in Poway no later than Friday, May 13th, or bring it to the
packaging event downtown at 825 7th Avenue, 92101, The Salvation Army bldg.

Helping the Bolton-Lum Family A Rancho Penasquitos Mom with a brain tumor is battling to heal her body. The family has experienced many ups and downs during her illness and recovery including 5 years of remission. Needless to say maintenance of their house has been a low priority . FFCC would like to help with some home projects: - Replace a sliding glass door that isn't working efficiently with possibly a smaller size door. - Install a meditation garden for Margaret. It's something she's wanted for years, since she first became ill. The garden will be very low maintenance with an outdoor table, umbrella and chair for her to sit and enjoy her tea. Can you help? We need... -Supplies for construction project including door, framing, drywall, stucco and paint -Supplies for garden including plants, rocks, possible water feature and outdoor furniture -Volunteers with specific skills in construction and gardening -Volunteers to join the teams led by the experts -Monetary donations -Anything can help...$5, $10 and more. Checks can be made payable to FFCC. Please contact Becky at bpalenske@san.rr.com if you can assist. |

 Grauer School Gets Involved!
On May 6th, Tina Socha, one of FFCC's Coordinators, was invited to speak at The Grauer School in Encinitas. Tina presented the different FFCC projects to the middle school students.
She explained how FFCC works by putting together ideas, resources and manpower to solve problems both locally and globally. It was explained that community needs and projects are shared through our FFCC newsletter and website. People then respond in ways that they can, and together we make a difference. This is how FFCC works.
Caroline Williams and Chelsea Milne, seniors from Rancho Bernardo High
School, together with Jackie Socha from Poway High School and Sean Harris from Azusa Pacific University, joined in the assembly to share their
experiences in traveling with FFCC to Haiti, Tanzania and the work being
done locally in San Diego.
After the assembly, students walked out to the lawn and decorated boxes that are going to be filled with non-perishable meals for the survivors of the earthquake and tsunami.
Everybody seemed very excited to have new service opportunities and students have already started by their contribution of toys for orphanages in Japan and their sharing of ideas regarding current FFCC projects. Way to go Grauer Students! |
