Join us for our  24th Food Packaging Event!

FFCC volunteers will be teaming up with our homeless community to support the relief effort in Japan by packaging 100,000 meals.  Here's how you can help:

  

When: Saturday, May 14th

Where: Downtown San Diego Salvation Army building on 8th Street.

What: 100,000 meals to earthquake and tsunami-ravaged Japan.

How: Team up with San Diego's homeless community at the Salvation Army building to package food and hope for others!

 

We'll need the following FFCC volunteers to make this happen:

 

30 Set-Up Volunteers on Friday night, May 13th from 3 to 6pm at the Salvation Army building

30 Leader Volunteers who can work from 8am - 2pm on the 14th and attend a training session downtown on Thursday evening, April 12th, from 7 to 8:30pm

20 Registration/Beverage/Presentation Volunteers from 8am to 12:30pm

200 Packaging Volunteers, 1st shift from 8:40am to 11am, 2nd shift from 10:40am to 2pm 

25 BBQ Lunch Volunteers,  from 11am to 2:30pm 

30 Take-down Volunteers, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm

 

FFCC volunteers will team up with 400 homeless volunteers organized through the San Diego Salvation Army to help us package over 100,000 meals to rush to the Sendai area of Japan.  Registration will begin Wednesday, April 27th.  Watch the FFCC website for details!

 

We need your financial support to raise the $25,000 required to purchase the 100,000 meals worth of ingredients.  You can donate directly via PayPal, or send a check to:

Your $20 can provide 80 meals for individuals and families in Japan.  Thank you for partnering with us!

  

 japan orphanageHelp for Japan's Orphans!

 

FFCC is teaming up with two non-profit organizations in Japan --Living Dreams and Smile Kids Japan.  These two organizations are working directly with the orphanages  that were damaged the most by the earthquake and tsunami, as well as those that are taking in the newly orphaned children of Japan.  Your donations of games and toys will help to heal children that have survived against the odds and will rebuild a warm and caring home environment.

  

 These are the names of the orphanages we will be working with are: Aoba Gauken, Aizu Jidouen, Fukushima Aiikuen, Horikawa Aisei-en, Iwaki Ikueisha, Iris Gakuen, Asahi Ga Oka Gakuen, LaSelle Home, Sendai Tenshi En, Oka no le Kodomo Home, Sayuri En, Wakou Gakuen, Seikou Gakuen, Seiunso, Taiyou Gakuen, Ichinoseki Fujisono, Michinokumidori Gakuen .

 

Currently, the 18 homes have the following breakdown of 1130 children: 

 

        180   2-6 yrs old

500   7-12 yrs old

270   13-15 yrs old

180    16-18 yrs old

All items must be new

No clothing or diapers

 

If you can provide any of these items, please bring them to the Packaging Event at the Salvation Army between 9:00am and 1:00pm on Saturday May 14th.  You can also drop them off in advance at Dream Dinners in Poway.
