Dear   ,
 FAH Club 2

Did you know our local high schools have been busy forming Fight Against Hunger Clubs on their campuses?  Student leaders from eight high schools from San Pasqual to the north, to Scripps Ranch and Westview  to the south, have established clubs that will enable students from these schools to join with FFCC as we continue to work to bring food and water to those who so desperately need it.

Each Club works independently with its members to develop their mission statement and determine where their efforts will be directed.  Some Clubs are joining FFCC on the first Monday of the month at the Salvation Army downtown to help feed the homeless, while others are supporting the food packaging events and water treatment systems.  Members and leadership from several clubs will be joining FFCC when it travels to Haiti over spring break in April and more are considering traveling to Tanzania in 2011 and 2012.

The Clubs are designing and printing t-shirts reflecting their Club's initiative and mission so be sure to look for our high schoolers in their Club shirts at our future events!

If you are a high school student a want to start a Fight Against Hunger Club or join an existing club, please contact Phil at philffcc@san.rr.com .  Great job students!

helping hand Help a Volunteer!

Traveling to locations like Haiti and Tanzania, Africa requires more than the average person's "pocket change".  Having said that, we've not seen the lack of money hold anyone back.  If you are determined to travel abroad and make a difference with the FFCC team, money should never be a stumbling block.

To help with this, we've created a new page on our website dedicated to helping team members achieve their goals through individual fundraisers.  Check it out and help a volunteer to help others!

FFCC has also established a scholarship fund for those individuals that have no financial network to help cover travel expenses.  If you would like to contribute to our student scholarship please indicate 'scholarship' in the memo section of your donation.

babies in diapers Diapers Needed!

Many thanks to the Penasquitos Christian Preschool for helping with a diaper drive that brought forth dozens and dozens of diapers!  We can share with so many local families that are financially stretched to provide these necessities for their babies.

We are reaching out to our FFCC volunteers now to ask for size 5 diapers and newborn size.  Then we can assist even more families.  Wipes would be great as well!  Please contact Becky at bpalenske@san.rr.com  to participate.

 11-6 volunteers23rd Packaging Event!

On March 26th and 27th, FFCC will be teaming up with The Church at Rancho Bernardo (CRB) to host our 23rd Food Packaging Event.  We are hoping to package 1/2 million meals or more.  Sign ups will begin March 6th.

The food packaged by our community has become a critical supplemental food source here in San Diego as well as in Tanzania and Haiti.  Your donation of $20.00 can provide 80 meals to be given away locally and shipped globally.  Would you invest in a hungry family today?  It will take 14 hours to package 1/2 million meals, so please join us for an hour or two and be a part of this huge humanitarian effort!  Click on PayPal and make your donation today.  All donations are tax deductable.

We are also asking volunteers to bring reading glasses and over-the-counter medications for individuals in Haiti and Tanzania.  Click here or go to the FFCC website for more information.

Container Ship 1,000,000 Meals to Haiti!

This week, FFCC loaded up and sent off 300,000 more meals to Haiti.  This makes over 1,000,000 meals sent to that country since we began shipping there less than one year ago!  Way to go FFCC volunteers and contributors!
