Dear   ,
 haiti tent city

FFCC is back in Haiti!  A small team arrived last weekend and has been doing preparatory  work for the two teams that will be going in April.  Following are two dispatches from the team this week:

From Melissa Betchel, wife of team member Aaron Betchel-

So I just got off the phone with Aaron!  He said over and over that there has been such a clear purpose in them being there.  They met with the Minister of Health today to discuss villages to begin installing water filters in.  They walked through a tent city today which he described as, "You see poverty, and then you see the tent city...it's crazy."  He said that in a very small area there are over 27,000 people.  Kids have fungal infections on their heads, there are mounds of trash everywhere and there are people everywhere you look.  It took them 2 hours to go 15 miles to get to this city.  They are going to begin installing these filtration systems in the tent city and another area because its easily accessible for our group to follow up with them on future visits.

All in all it sounds like this trip has been really impacting and incredible!

Great stuff going on, thank you for your prayers :o)

Much love!

A text from Phil with more incredible news-

Hi Team,

Another incredible day.  We began by meeting with the leaders of the tent city called Aviation, near the airport of Port au Prince.  Here is what we learned about Aviation- 27,000 people, 10-15 cases of cholera a day, no schools, no medical resources, no outside government , faith or community support with the exception of the Swiss Red Cross that delivers water 3 x a day.  An absolutely hopeless situation that these people have lived with for over a year.  Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to install FFCC water filters at 17 water stations providing clean water to 27,000 people!  The first clean drinking water they have had in over a year.  The leaders and people are so thankful and excited.  We also spent 5 hours hunting down 129 five gallon buckets all throughout Port au Prince.  We still need another 75+ before we head out to the village of Trouin on Wednesday.  Exhausted and ready for bed.  All is well with the team.

FFCC is having a positive effect!  Thank you for your support and prayers--please continue!

We Need Laptops!

FFCC would like to invite you to help change the lives of Tanzanian children by donating your used and working laptop computers. These computers will be used to help educate children in Tanzania and will be distributed during our February trip (only three weeks away!). We now have the opportunity to utilize these computers in the dormitories and school which FFCC continues to help support and maintain.

Imagine the lives you can change by giving these children an opportunity to utilize new and effective ways of learning.  Not only will these computers help the children and country of Tanzania, but your donation is tax deductible and greatly appreciated by each of us at FFCC!  For information on how to make your laptop donation, please email Phil Harris at philffcc@san.rr.com.  Thank you so much for your generosity and continuous support of those less fortunate. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
