Dear ,
Haiti Trip #4 was another success for FFCC!
There were five FFCC volunteers-- Doug Ferrin, Jim Warner, Rudy Diaz, Joel Mata and Phil Harris--that traveled to Haiti last week. The team accomplished much as they prepared the way for 35 doctors, nurses, and other volunteers headed to Haiti in January.
The team was successful in designing and building a temporary mobile clinic in the city of Gressier, Kabwa Region. This clinic will allow the January medical team to provide medical care for 500-600 patients per day. The team also distributed 30 water filter kits to the residents in the Kabwa Region, the city of Carrefour, and in Port Au Prince. Thirty water kits are barely a drop in the bucket, but they're a drinkable drop, and that's a start.
The team also met with the Minster of Health and demonstrated the use of the water kits and discussed the medical needs in the Gressier area. The Health Department expressed their thanks and deep appreciation for all the support and resources FFCC has provided over this last year. They have committed to work together with FFCC to help the most vulnerable in Haiti.
The January trip is full, but if you would like to volunteer to travel to Haiti April 2-10, plan on attending the first team meeting on Tuesday night, December 7th, at 6:30pm. Email Phil at philffcc@san.rr.com for more information.

Creekside Elementary Takes Center Stage!
On Tuesday, November 16th, 700 students came together and packed 700 backpacks with school supplies. One-third of these backpacks will be given away to families in need here locally, two-thirds will be shipped and given away to the children in Haiti.
School Principal Robin Robinson and parent volunteer Bonnie Nichols teamed up with teachers and parents to raise the funds needed to purchase the backpacks and all the school supplies. Each student came through the multi-purpose room, picked up a backpack, filled the pack with school supplies, and signed an encouraging note in French that went into each pack. It was awesome to see these young students engaged and aware of how we can come together as a school and a community and make such a huge difference.
All 700 backpacks will be on display at the November 28th Food Packaging Event in Escondido. After the event, the backpacks will be loaded into a 40-foot shipping container along with the packaged food and shipped to Haiti.
Thank-you, Creekside Elementary School, for leading by example! |
Next Event Coming Up!
Sign-ups are almost full for our 22nd Food Packaging Event at the Old Escondido Police Station on November 28th! Get on the FFCC website if you haven't already and claim your spot!
We will be collecting much-needed medical supplies for Haiti at the event. A list of the over-the-counter supplies we need are listed on FFCC's website. These supplies will be sent with the medical team traveling to Haiti in January. Any and all donations will be appreciated and put to good use. Thank you in advance for your help! |
Christmas in Haiti!

To date, FFCC has raised $3,000 to assist in providing Christmas shoe boxes for 2,000 homeless children who lost their parents in the January earthquake. Thank you for your generous contributions that will allow us to provide much needed clothing and hygiene necessities for these kids. Your funds will also allow us to bring some joy and laughter to these children that have suffered great loss this year.
We will be collecting funds for another two weeks. Two thousand homeless children live in the area FFCC is reaching out to, 300 are covered so far. Ten dollars a child is all it takes. Come and help us make this party happen! |
Christmas Caroling for the Homeless! We need Christmas Carolers on Monday night, December 6th, at the Downtown San Diego Salvation Army! If you belong to a group that can join us on that night and lead us in carols, we would love to have you! Please contact Phil at philffcc@san.rr.com . |
