Dear   ,
 haiti team 3

FFCC provides food to Mama Lynn and the Light in Africa orphanages in Moshi and Mirerani, Tanzania.  Below is an email update from Mama Lynn on how things are going:

"Having employed new staff for the opening of the f
Food Kitchen on the 4th October, we had to have a 'dummy' run, so that they could understand the working of the Food Kitchen, and what was expected of them.  The first thing they had to learn was not to allow the children to panic for the food, as has happened in the past when the older children think there is not enough food.  When they see the long lines they will start fights or push-in just to move up the queue a little.  This is what hunger does to you, you're scared you're not going to eat that day.  Also on the first day of opening, we weighed each child and gave worming medicines, and looked for scabies on their heads.  Scabies
is a head fungi which causes severe irritation.   Social Worker Grace and Pastor Frank had already visited over 300 children, with two more villages to reach.  There were 370 children registered on the first day and 410 children on the second day.  I was there to look for children who needed immediate attention, and the first child I saw was about 3 years of age. Grace had not seen him before so after putting the food and drink in front of him, he started to talk to her.  He had heard that there was to be some 'free' food and joined a group coming to the "chicken", the name the street children have given the Food Kitchen he was so painfully thin and malnourished that Grace went home with him to assess his situation.  I then spotted a child with his head full of boils who was weeping.  I couldn't imagine the pain that this child must be suffering, and after food I asked one of the staff to take him for treatment at Dr. Minja's.  I then saw an older boy of around 10 years, hobble in with no shoes on. He obviously was in pain as he walked, so Pastor Frank pulled him to one side to ask what had happened.  He had burned the side of his foot on a fire, and his mother was so poor she couldn't afford any medical treatment for him.  After two platefuls of food, I put him in the car and took him to see Dr. Richard.  After speaking to the child, the doctor found out that there was no food in the house and his mother says they can only eat every other day.  He is not in school because they have no money to purchase the books or the uniforms, and so his time is spent on the streets.  After treatment, I took him to Lighthouse to get some clothes, as the ones he was wearing appeared to be the only clothes he owned.... and that was just the first day of opening."

This is why we keep doing what we are doing!  Our gifts of food, clothing, shoes, and medicine are the difference between life and death for so many of the children in Tanzania.  Join us on the 6th of November and help us feed our starving neighbors.

 FFCC January Medical Trip

There has been an amazing volunteer response for our upcoming Haiti medical trip in January.  There are 28 volunteers to date who are going, and another

10-15 volunteers who will be working from San Diego to get us there.  On November 7th, a team of six volunteers will be flying to Haiti to build the mobile clinic in Kabwa and to get everything set for the January team.

Our next team meeting is this Monday, October 11th, at 6:30pm at Drs. Joel and Eunice Mata's home.  If you have an interest in working with our Haiti medical team, join us on the 11th.  For more information, email Phil at [email protected] .

 haiti xmasShoe Boxes for Christmas!
We are up to 100 kids that have been adopted for Christmas in Haiti!  Our goal is to provide Christmas Shoe Boxes for 2,000 homeless children in the city of Gressier.  These children lost their parents in the January earthquake and will be experiencing their first Christmas without family.

You can partner with us by donating $10.00 for every child you would like to support.  Your $10.00 will go towards purchasing a shoe box filled with clothing items, a toy, hygiene items, and a huge Christmas party where the kids will receive their gifts.  FFCC will purchase these items in Haiti to help build back their economy.

Consider sharing this opportunity with your school, neighbors, clubs, and family members.  You can make your tax-deductible donation via Pay Pal or mail your check to:
