Dear   ,
 haiti team 3
In recent trips to Haiti, FFCC has developed a Food Distribution Team to ensure that the food shipped from San Diego is put into the hands of the most needy in the city of Carrefour.  Here is a note sent to FFCC with an update from one of our distribution team members:

"Today we are distributing 100,000 meals --vitamin-packed, high-protein meals shipped to us from Friends and Family Community Connection, San Diego, CA.  People in our church are helping distribute the food packets to the most needy in our neighborhood.  We saw tears this morning in the eyes of the elderly who have been left to fend for themselves. We distribute food to those who are so desperate.  Thank you FFCC for not forgetting us."

-Terry

Thank you FFCC for standing in the gap until a sustainable food source can be developed.  If you would like to donate towards our next food packaging event, to be held on November 6th, $20.00 will provide 80 meals for families and individuals in Haiti.  Click on the "Donate" button in this newsletter to make your tax-free donation.
Thanks!

-Phil

mme shirtCreate a Christmas for Haiti!

FFCC is providing Christmas Shoe Boxes for 2,000 homeless children in the city of Gressier.  These children lost their parents in the January earthquake and will be experiencing their first Christmas without family.

You can partner with us by donating $10.00 for every child you would like to support.  Your $10.00 will go towards purchasing a shoe box filled with clothing items, a toy, hygiene items, and a huge Christmas party where the kids will receive their gifts.  FFCC will purchase these items in Haiti to help build back their economy.

Consider sharing this opportunity with your school, neighbors, clubs, and family members.  You can make your tax-deductible donation via Pay Pal or mail your check to:

Please note "Haiti Christmas" in the memo section.

Let's make this a special Christmas for these children facing incredible hardships.  Email Phil at philffcc@san.rr.com for more information.
 Have a Stroller?

FFCC is in need of a gently used stroller for a mom who walks everywhere.  Her stroller was stolen and we'd like to show her that this community cares!

Many of our families have asked about shoes for their children.  FFCC did a great job donating gift cards last school year for shoes and the need is great again.  If you can help with a Payless Shoes, Sears or Wal-Mart gift card it would be especially appreciated.  All donations are tax deductible.

Please contact Becky at bpalenske@san.rr.com if you can help with these

needs.

 Thanksgiving Basket Time
It's that time of year again!  We will be collecting items for our FFCC Thanksgiving Baskets at our November 6th Food Packaging Event at Del Norte High School.  Please consider bringing some of the following items so we can assemble these baskets for needy families in San Diego:

Canned sweet potatoes/yams
Canned green beans
Applesauce
Canned corn
Canned cranberry sauce
Box of stuffing
Canned chicken broth
Box or bag of corn bread mix
Small bottle of cooking oil
Roll of aluminum foil
$25 gift card to Albertsons, Stater Bros. or Ralphs for the family to shop for
fresh food/turkey

You can also drop off your food donations at Dream Dinners in Poway at 12218 Poway Road.
Join Our Medical Mission to Haiti!
FFCC is returning to Haiti on January 14 - 22, 2011, with a team of doctors, nurses and volunteers.  Our team will provide basic medical aid, childhood immunizations, health education, referrals of ill patients to the nearest hospital, and general support to the underserved people in the village of Kabwa.

We anticipate our team will include 6 Physicians, 2 Pharmacists, 10 Nurses, 2 Health Educators, 2 data processors and 6 general volunteers.  We will have 18 - 20 Haitian interpreters volunteering and assisting us during the trip.  We will need a lot of support both here and in Haiti.  We will require a variety of medications, support staff and medical supplies in preparation for our mission.

We are asking for your help and support.  An informational meeting will be held on:

September 20, 2010, 6:30 pm
12582 Via Colmenar, San Diego, 92129
(858) 484-8424

We hope you will join us in helping the people of Haiti!
