Dear   ,
 haiti team 3
FFCC Food Packaging Event #21 is coming!

You can begin registering for our upcoming Food Packaging Event starting Saturday, September 25.  Mark your calendar so you'll be the first to be able to select the time that works best for you, your family, and your friends.  You can register at the FFCC website, www.ffccsd.org .  FFCC is requesting that all volunteers bring Thanksgiving food items for the 200+ Thanksgiving food baskets that will be given away to families in need throughout our community.

Each year FFCC packages and distributes Thanksgiving food baskets to families in need.  We will publish a list of specific food items that we'll need for each basket.  You'll have the opportunity to partner with us in the following ways:
A) Volunteer to help identify and coordinate the delivery to families in need.
B) Volunteer to purchase and donate the food items that will be needed.
C) Volunteer to assist in the assembling and packaging of the Thanksgiving baskets.
D) Volunteer to make Thanksgiving greeting cards to encourage the family or individual.
E) Volunteer to deliver the food baskets; this is a wonderful project that can use the help of individuals, clubs, church groups or organizations.

If you are interested in partnering with FFCC this Thanksgiving season please email Phil at philffcc@san.rr.com .
mme shirtHigh School Fight Aganist Hunger Clubs Growing!

Students from three different high schools have started Fight Against Hunger clubs on their school campuses.
Mt Carmel High School, Rancho Bernardo High School, and Scripps Ranch High School are all in the process of completing the required school paperwork to start their clubs in September.  These Fight Against Hunger Clubs are led by students hosting regular meetings, teaming up with FFCC to package and distribute food and other supplies both locally and globally.

In addition to the Fight Against Hunger Clubs, FFCC is partnering with existing high school clubs such as Poway High's Peer Counseling, Rancho Bernardo's Key Club, and Escondido Charter's Key Club, to join in the fight by assisting in our community wide food packaging events.

Congratulations to the following Club Presidents and their staff:
Mt Carmel High School - President Philip Cowart
Scripps Ranch High School - President Sara Johnson
Rancho Bernardo High School - President Chelsea Milne

If you would like to start a Fight Against Hunger Club at your school or would like more information please contact Tina Socha at  tina.socha@san.rr.com .
 Thanks Volunteers!

FFCC would like to thank Jerry, Pam, Kim, Matt, Eunice and Joel for volunteering to help sort medical supplies last Saturday morning.  This incredible team of volunteers inventoried and separated supplies for Haiti and Tanzania. A small logistical team will be traveling to Haiti in November to ensure all the plans are ready for the larger medical trip planned for January.  If you are interested in joining the medical team in January 2011, plan on attending an informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept 20th at the Mata's home.

 Backpacks Make a Difference!

Your donation made a huge difference!

"The school year started a little brighter for 181 students as they received a new backpack filled with school supplies from Growing Healthy Families'  (GHFF ) Backpacks for a Smart Start program. The proceeds from the PLC Open, and donations of school supplies during the Friends & Family Community Connection Food Packaging Event allowed GHFF to exceed its original target of 150 backpacks and reach 181 children in the Poway Unified School District.

Students who attended GHFF's Community Lunch Bunch program received their backpacks on the final day of the program. The smiles, hugs (some tears) and numerous "thank you's" were blessings to the Foundation members and many program volunteers. The remaining backpacks were distributed to Los Peñasquitos and Pomerado Elementary schools and Black Mountain Middle School."

Regards,
Kimberly Lynch
President
