Volunteer Needs

Parents play a critical role at Odle.   We encourage parent involvement and regular communication  with the school to see what help is needed.

 Viking Hut

Please sign up (www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0548ADA822A13-shifts/5080015)  if you can help in the Viking Hut one day a week or once a month.  The Hut had to be closed some days this week because we were short on helpers.  It's an easy job and a great way to be involved without "embarrassing" your middle schooler!    If you've never done it before and need some help or would like to partner up with an experienced person, please email Sonia at soniab795@gmail.com or Michelle at deerkopc@msn.com who would be willing to show you the ropes.

Nominal donations or Item Donations for Special Ed

The Special Education resource classrooms have a reward system directly connected to Odle Bucks.  There is a store where students can purchase food items.  The store is stocked with food items students have identified as their preference for snacks and supplemental breakfast / lunch items.  The building budget no longer provides funding for this system and we are looking for donations in the following ways:

Nominal donations (the approximate budget is $100 a month) and/or item donations (all items can be purchased at Costco).

Cup -a - Noodles (approx. $7.00 for a case of 24)

Hi-Chews (approx. $6.00)

54 pack of chips (approx. $12.00)

Small packs of cookies (box of 42 approx. $10.00)

Instant oatmeal (box of 52 approx $10.00)

Box of Apples (approx. $8.00 for 12)

Box of oranges / clementines (approx.  $7.00 for 20)

Box of Granola Bar (approx. $12.00 for 48 bars)

This is how the system works - very simple, very personal.  Students earn Odle Bucks in any and all classes for positive choices, academic performance and acts of kindness.  Students can then purchase items for themselves at the end of certain class periods from our classroom store the Wake up and Pay Attention Café.

Students frequently purchase these items for themselves as supplement for missing breakfast - not having lunch.  It is a way for them to be responsible for themselves, independently meeting their own needs and feeling support and personalized care in the classroom.

If you are able to provide in any way, please contact Sarah Curtis Greer.

Successful PRISM/GMSP  Potluck

Special thanks to Arlene Hoffman and Lee Bodin for their terrific work organizing the PRISM/GMSP potluck. We had at least 100 people show, bringing a great variety of tasty dishes. It seemed everyone had a good time and learned a bit more about our Gifted High School Program and goings-on with Gifted Education in the Bellevue School District.

We also voted to rename the group, in light of the addition of our new GMSP students, so PPAC is now POGOS (Parents Of Gifted Odle Students). We will be rolling out the new contact info in the New Year.
