Viking News Submissions

 

The Odle Viking News is distributed on the first and third Monday of every month.  Submission requests are due on Fridays prior to the scheduled submission, and may be sent to the newsletter editor.  This deadline is strictly enforced.

Congratulations to all our mathletes for the strong performance and achievements!

In the 2013

Math Is Cool regional contest held on Nov 8, Odle's mathletes had a very strong performance in both individual and team contests!

 

7th grade was ranked #2 in team competition

8th grade was ranked #1 in team competition

 

The following students were ranked in top in individual contests:

 

Geometry division (highest division):

Colin Tang (7th grade), 1st place

Anthony Lu (8th grade),  3rd place

Sophia Zhi (8th grade), 4th place

Arena Conferences

 

Arena Conferences will be held on Nov 21st from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. These conferences are by request only.  Jubilee Reach will provide child care to all families from 4 pm to 8 pm.

 

 

Odle MS Student  Directory

 

The Odle Middle School  Directory is in the print shop. Look for a copy of the red directory in your student's backpack by the end of the week or the following week at the latest.  Each Odle family will receive ONE copy. For families with multiple students at Odle, the directory will be handed out to the youngest sibling at Odle.

 

Dinner and Childcare for Odle Families

 

 

Hola tenemos el agrado de invitar a usted y su familia a un gran evento en español  en donde se tocaran temas sobre bullying, drogas y problemas de conducta  así también temas importantes sobre como motivar a sus hijos a tener éxito en la escuela y desarrollar comportamientos positivos.

Tendremos cuidado de niños y una cena deliciosa.

Lo estaremos esperando el miércoles 4 de diciembre  en el salón multiusos de 5:30  a 8 de la noche

We will provide childcare and dinner

We will have an evening for our Spanish-Speaking families at Odle on December 4, 2013 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm in the MUR. This will include parent sessions on different topics. This event is brought to our families as a joint project of Odle's Action Team for Partnership (ATP) which aims to engage families and the community in ways that support student achievement and success.

We will provide childcare and dinner.

Volunteer Needs

Parents play a critical role at Odle.   We encourage parent involvement and regularly communication  with the school to see what help is needed. 

 

 Vision Screening

 

Our school nurse is asking for 6 parent volunteers to help with vision screening. Odle Vision Screening for all 7th grade students will be conducted on Tuesday Nov. 19th

 in the lower library during 1st and 2nd period, starting at 7:45 a.m. 

Volunteers will need to sign in the office. From there, you will be directed to where to go.

Thank you to the  volunteers at the inaugural  Odle Orchesta Festival  Sat. November 2nd: Cora Chan, Karen Choi, Bob Connell, Nancy Cui, Terri Forsberg, Sandra Gan, Anita Leung, Pean Lim, Susana Morales-Jose, Sara Rowe, Barb Skotte, Jenice Ung-Khun, Ping Wei, Cathy Zhao.  The students learned so much from the experience!

 

Odle's three student orchestras all performed wonderfully at the their Fall Concert Nov. 7th.  Thank you volunteers: Susan Leu-Lin, Yaling Kuo, Sandra Gan, Amelia Kwok, Bob Connell, Shirley Lim, Barb Skotte.

 

CD Sale-FOOM  will again be selling "Sounds of Odle Music" CDs  beginning later this month.  The CDs  will feature performances by all of the school music groups and will be delivered just before school lets out for the winter break.  The CDs will cost only $10 each, and are the perfect holiday gift!  All funds raised support the school music programs. Community News

 Thanksgiving Baskets

 

The Count Your Blessings group is a group of BSD families that have come together to fill the need of donating 760+ Thanksgiving Baskets consisting of a traditional holiday meal to families across the district. Every year this group has worked to meet the demand and fill as many baskets as they have requests for from families. This year they are seeking additional support to fill the growing need in our community. It would be wonderful if the PTSAs would be able to jump in and a run a food drive or help raise funds to support this program. Volunteers are always a wonderful support as well. Here is the information:

Bellevue Quality Schools Campaign 

On February 11th 2014, parents can continue supporting educational programs in Bellevue by approving an educational programs and operations levy, a technology & capital levy and a proposed capital construction bond to rebuild BSD schools.
