MARCH MAGIC FUNDRAISER...DRUMROLL, PLEASE...WE BEAT OUR GOAL!

THANK YOU to everyone who donated to our March Magic Fundraiser!  Thanks to each and every one of you, we were able to EXCEED our goal and are just above $13,000!!  These funds will truly benefit every child at Odle--new books, laptops, instruments, and science enhancement are just a few of the tangible benefits from your donation.  Thanks again for helping us help make our school the best it can be!

PTSA MEETING THURSDAY:  Officer Elections and Jose Kader with District Security

Please join us for a brief PTSA meeting followed by a Power Point presentation by Jose Kader from the Bellevue School District Security Department.  Mr. Kader is an 11 year veteran of the Navy and is earning a degree in Homeland Security with American Military University.  He requested time at our meeting to introduce the security department to our community and to discuss the department's mission to patrol, to check and to ensure that the property and everyone is safe in all of our campuses.

Annual Odle Multicultural Fair

Save the Date!  Tuesday, April 30th is the annual Odle Multicultural Fair. This fantastic event showcases 7th grade projects, includes an international multicultural potluck and fashion show, craft events for the whole family and more!  To make this event a success, we need volunteers!!

Can you take a one-hour shift (or more)?
  • 5:00-6:00 pm-Set-up and receiving food items
  • 6:00-7:00 pm-General supervision/bussing tables and/or help with fashion show
  • 7:00-8:00 pm-General supervision/bussing tables
  • 8:00-8:45 pm-Clean-up/tear-down

If you can volunteer, no matter for how long, please contact Barb Skotte at bskotte@yahoo.com or 425-698-1726.

Of course, we also can never have too many international food items--please share something if you can!  We'll accept items beginning at 5:00 pm, at tables just outside the MUR, near the kitchen.  Doors will open to the event at 6:00 pm, and we'll close at 8:00 pm.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to heat or cool items, so please plan accordingly.  We hope to see you there.  Thank you!

Thank you to Cost Plus World Market!

A special Thank You to the Cost Plus World Market on NE 8th Street for their donation of a gift basket for Las Familias Unidas night on April 2. A drawing was held for the basket, and a lucky family took it home to enjoy. Leslie from Cost Plus World Market said, "We are proud to support our local school."

Highlight on Two Open PTSA Positions for 2013-2014

Looking for a way to be more involved at Odle? PTSA has open positions for next school year. Help shape your child's experience at Odle as the PTSA Webmaster or Vice President for Fundraising. Be a part of Odle's success!

VP Fundraising

The VP of Fundraising has a unique opportunity to work with teachers, parents and Odle administrators to bring new and exciting books, equipment and programs to Odle. As part of the executive board, the VP for Fundraising will attend monthly PTSA meetings. He or she will work closely with our teachers, administrators and the Grants Committee Chair to develop funding priorities for the year. The VP for Fundraising and his or her committee will manage the Fall and Spring fundraisers--both of which were "Pass the Hat" campaigns this year. The outgoing VP has a trove of information (mailers, flyers, etc.) to help you with these campaigns, and the Publicity Chair is available, too. Do have new or different ideas for raising money? The VP for Fundraising may make suggestions to the Board for new fundraising programs. Interested? Please email odleptsa@hotmail.com

Webmaster

If you can give a few hours a week (often even less) and have web design or management skills, the Odle Webmaster position is for you!  The PTSA website provides necessary information for the community to stay involved with and to support our school. This year's webmaster will "graduate" from Odle, and we are looking for someone to take over the site. The webmaster is responsible for putting content provided by PTSA officers on the site, but beyond that, the position is yours to have fun with! The job can be as simple as maintaining the current look of the site or you can choose to develop a new design. Interested? Please email odleptsa@hotmail.com.

Snack Donations to Odle's Math and Counseling Departments

Odle's Math teachers and Counselors are running low on snacks for needy students who are staying late after school for additional help and support. From energy bars to apples, food items that are both nutritious and appealing to students would be much appreciated. Please deliver any donations to Liliana Medina in the Main Office. Please check expiration dates. Thanks to Target and to Trader Joe who have both contributed snacks to Odle.

Don't miss Odle's 4th Annual "Be the Bridge" Book Drive

A great way to promote summer reading and bridge the achievement gap for Odle students

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT! Research shows that students who don't read during the summer lose up to three months of reading progress, which can have a significant impact over time.

WHO WILL RECEIVE THE BOOKS THIS YEAR? Odle will be hosting three different summer academic programs for struggling students (Summer Success Academy, Starting Strong, and Nine Months to Ninth Grade). Our teachers hope to send students in all three programs home with books so they can continue reading throughout the summer.

WE NEED YOUR HELP. Between Now and June 1, please bring your new or gently used books to Odle and place them in the box near the main office.

We hope that you can help us to bridge the achievement gap one book, one child at a time!

Odle coordinator: Shaila Shetty (zenitha_s@hotmail.com; 425-445-3226).

  • Does your teen need help coping with school, stress, or other life happenings?
  • Did you know there is a YES counselor available each week at Odle to meet with students and families?
