Agency Spotlight: Early Childhood Center |
The Early Childhood Center offers early childhood education programs with a play-based philosophy in Rockville, Maryland. For over 40 years, we have worked to build a community where children become independent, confident, lifelong learners with a strong sense of self and a love of learning. In each child, we strive to cultivate autonomy, a sense of belonging, respect for others, and enthusiasm for exploration.
Summer program volunteers are needed. We currently seek high school students, college students, or adults who are familiar and comfortable working with young children, ages 2-5, to be part of our very play-based summer program. We have three, two-week sessions of the program, starting in mid-June and running through July. You can apply to volunteer for one, two, or three sessions, and your continued work at our center will be contingent upon a successful "match" with our program. Volunteers will assist our staff with activities with the children and it will include set-up and clean-up as well.
If someone enjoys working with children, this is a GREAT opportunity to get experience and have fun! Please visit our web site for more information about our school at www.eccpreschool.com. To learn more about this summer volunteer opportunity, contact our office at earlychildhoodcenter@verizon.net.

Support Seniors in the Community

|
|
This program needs dedicated volunteers to work as advocates in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. This rewarding volunteer opportunity requires flexible daytime hours and creative problem solving skills. Extensive training and technical assistance are provided by experienced professionals.
For almost nineteen years The Senior Connection has provided free services to older residents. Each month about 400 seniors rely on the services provided by dedicated volunteers. In an average month these volunteers provide more than 650 free trips to medical appointments and 300 grocery shopping trips.
The staff works hard to accommodate all requests, but all too frequently find that the demand cannot be met. New volunteers are constantly being recruited and trained but not enough to keep up with seniors needing assistance. Seniors must now make appointments a month in advance, twice as long as before!
Please consider giving 2-3 hours per week to help out. It will make a big difference to you and to the people you serve.
For more information, please contact Marcia Custer at 301-962-0820 X14, or download an application on the website at:

Did you know that website also lists local Gaithersburg volunteer opportunities as well as a wish list of donations from local nonprofits?
