Mark attended Downey High School and Modesto JC. and met the love of his life - Agnes Riemersma while cruising McHenry Blvd. They married on June 29, 1974 in Ripon. His first job was at Ripon Milling working as a millworker. Always wanting to be on his own, he purchased his first truck, a Diamond Rio, and began transporting milk for Morris Dairies to the Richmond Creamery. Soon after the business started. they were given the opportunity to haul grain commodities for Berry's Seed & Feed, AL Gilbert and Foster Commodities. In 1988 the business was growing, as were their boys. They built their home in Oakdale CA and the house in Ceres became the office.

Mark was very involved in the community in Oakdale with the Little League Baseball Association serving as President for two years. He was a member of the Oakdale Christian Reformed Church and also attended services at Knight's Ferry Community Church. Mark was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007 to the Board of Directors for the Turlock County Fair and was currently a sitting board member.
