November 16 - 20, 2015

6th grade went on a field trip to the Port Royal Sound Foundation Maritime Center & Widgeon Point last week to begin a year long project "SEEDS to SHORELINE".

6th grade students collected spartina grass seeds from the marsh which they brought back to school and put in cold storage. The seeds will be ready to plant in the Spring. After growing the seeds at school, 6th grade will take another field trip to plant the spartina grass and help replenish the marsh grass thereby helping to sustain this important ecosystem.

PTO Meeting

Monday, 6:00 p.m. in the GYM

Please make plans to attend the 2nd PTO meeting of the 2015-2016 school year! We will hear about several opportunities to be involved with some of the PTO committees and will enjoy a special performance by 1st Grade. We will also discuss how current RCS families can help spread the word about our amazing school before open enrollment begins in January.

Riverview T-shirts, hats & visors will be for sale and the PTO will also be giving out door prizes!

We hope to see you there and appreciate your continued support of the Riverview PTO!

Board of Directors Accepting Nominations

Nominations Due THIS Thursday, November 19

As we look to the end of 2015, it is time for the election of Riverview's Board of Directors. If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of our board, please complete a nominating packet!

This December, the school will elect six (6) new board members, each to fulfill a two (2) year term from January 2016 thru December 2018.

Nominations Due Thursday, November 19th at 6:00 p.m

Uniform Free Friday

THIS FRIDAY

The last Friday of each month is 'Uniform-Free Friday' and students may pay $5 to dress out of uniform. The money raised on Uniform Free Friday will be in place of monies generated from traditional school-wide fundraisers such as wrapping paper sales, candy bar sales, etc.

On Uniform-Free Friday, Riverview students may wear any color jeans, capris, shorts, skirts, or skorts. Clothing may not exceed one size larger or smaller than the child and length may not exceed 3 inches above the knee (formerly "fingertip length"). Tops must have sleeves and cover the chest and back. Bottoms must be tasteful and follow all uniform code criteria.

Special Request from the PTO Hospitality Committee

in honor of teachers & staff

It is a Thanksgiving Tradition to provide a home-baked dessert (pies, cakes, cookies platters, etc.) for each of our hard-working teachers and staff as a token of our appreciation as we send them off for the holiday week. We have over 80 staff members so we need a lot of help!

Please contact Amy Kaylor (click here) if you can deliver a treat the morning of Tuesday, November 24th to the school (last day before Thanksgiving Break). Please, *no store-bought desserts*.
