EXCITING SCHEDULE CHANGES

ipad girl

At the Y, we are continually working to improve your experience as members while running a fiscally responsible organization. To that end, you may have noticed some recent changes to our schedules; we hope you find the larger print and style easier to read so you can find your favorite classes more quickly.

In this electronic age, we decided it is time we take full advantage of the lower cost of delivering YMCA program information to you. In the past we have mailed the Program Guide and Schedules directly to your home. Now you will find them on your home-branch YMCA's web page under the Schedules Section and, if you still like the convenience of a printed copy, you can pick up a printed copy of your Y Schedules at your YMCA's Welcome Center. Please let us know how this works for you by taking our poll.

More exciting changes are coming! We are developing a new website that will be mobile-device friendly. The new site also takes advantage of technology that makes it quicker and easier to find classes and register for Y programs!

We hope you will like the changes!

BRIGHT BEGINNINGS

Bright Beginnings ensures that children in need are able to start the school year off right with new school supplies, shoes, clothes, and confidence. Our goal this year is to take 5 children shopping for back to school clothes and supplies.

You can help!

  • Our goal is $750, we need $331 to meet our goal. You can sponsor a child for $150 but a donation of any amount will help!
  • You can also donate school supplies.
  • Volunteer to shop with a child!

We will be shopping August 13th.

Call Sheila Pillath at 725-1488 to donate or volunteer.

STRONG COMMUNITIES
kidsymca

Summer is, by far, the busiest season at the Y.  The pool is overflowing with kids learning how to swim and be safe around water.  Our bays and rivers are hosting our sailing camp kids.  Kids in all our programs are learning about healthy living habits through our 5-2-1-0 initiative-each day, five fruits and veggies, two hours or less of screen time, one hour of physical activity and zero sugary drinks.  Adults are at the ball field knocking it out of the park to get fit while having fun.  Our fitness center and group exercise classes are full of folks working toward their wellness goals-whether it is to lose weight, lower blood pressure, or to maintain enough strength for an improved quality of life.

Our staff and volunteers are blessed daily to be able to interact with youth, adults and families who are doing their part to be whole and healthy.

But for many, the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive through the Y eludes them for financial reasons.  For one in five Y members and one in ten Y program participants, these same programs and services are available only because we have people in Mathews who understand that in every community there is work to be done and in every heart there is power to do it. They put this belief into action with a donation to the Mathews Family YMCA Strong Communities campaign.

Please help us ensure that kids and adults alike have their best summer, their best year, and their best healthy lifestyle by making the largest contribution you can to the Mathews Family YMCA.  As always, a donation to the Mathews Family YMCA, a non-profit, charitable organization, is tax deductible and benefits youth and families right here in Mathews.  You can mail a donation to the Y, drop it off at the Y, or click HERE and select the Mathews branch.

Thank you for demonstrating your concern for a whole and healthy community by making Mathews Family YMCA Strong Communities Campaign one of your choice local charities.
