FESTIVE TIME AT ABYC

ABYC Members and guests were treated to another fantastic dinner by Chef Paul and staff at our annual Christmas Dinner last Friday evening.  After dinner, Christmas Carols were sung by young and not so young and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

We need to keep up the momentum!

Last week we got a lot of trench evacuation/soil relocation and tie back anchor work done.  It was a fairly mild Saturday and working conditions were good.  Not sure of the forecast this week, but we need to keep up the momentum and finish the job over the next two Saturdays and a mid-week day (this Thursday or Friday).

If you are available this Thursday or Friday, please send an email to abycworkparty@hotmail.com

To those of you who need to put in more hours, this is a great way to get those in.

Many thanks to the dedicated regulars who come out every week to toil away Saturday mornings and we appreciate everyone who has come out to help, even if it's only one or two Saturdays.

Let's keep up the good work and git'er done.

Save the wall

SEAWALL REPAIR:  December 13th.

The end of the first section of seawall repair is in sight.  In two weeks, just in time for Christmas break, we should have all anchors and tiebacks secure and the ground cover restored.  Our progress accelerates every week with 3 tiebacks the first week, 6 the second week, 7 to 8 this coming week and finish up on the 20th.  HO! HO! HO!

We have also received outstanding support from the membership for participation for the past few weeks. Although we doubled our production last week we even finished an hour earlier than previously due to the number of willing workers present.   Let's keep it up for lucky 13th.

To prepare for this Saturday installation we need to excavate 8 trenches on Thursday and/or Friday for minimal delays to the installation teams on Saturday.   Email Roger Marsh or Sue Hamilton if you can contribute some midweek time.

Here is a list of work teams that will be active Dec. 6th and will continue till further notice.  Watch this space for notice of other work team starts as work progresses.

Members are responsible for recording their hours and making sure that the information in the Job Jar is up to date.

Please check the Job Jar and make sure that your account is accurate.  Members need to work at least 20 hours to fulfill their obligation to the club.  If you still need to contribute hours consider working on the Seawall Repair project.  The Seawall Repair project is operating on December 6th and 12th and possibly the 19th and could use extra bodies.

If you have questions about the Job Jar please contact Michelle at 416-889-9420

As many of you know Ian has been in St. Mike's Hospital for the past 5 weeks in Intensive Care.  I have been visiting him regularly and on Monday we had a great conversation.  He hopes to be out of Intensive Care soon.  His condition continues to improves and he is looking forward to being back at the Club and sitting at his favourite stool at the bar.

He asked me to send his regards to all his friends at ABYC.
