MARCH - CAN SPRING BE FAR OFF?
                                                                                                                                     Photo - BCaron
In most years, our bay is ice free around the second week of March.  This bleak scene might take a bit longer to clear out this year.  BTW, we are now into "Meteorological Spring".  Meteorologists base seasons on temperature cycles (instead of alignment of the sun), where spring includes March, April and May.  So if it makes you feel better, winter is over!

Mark your calendars for the next BIG ABYC event - the All Day Spring Work Party.  Yes, that's Spring, if it ever gets here.  The date is Saturday April 12th from 9:00am - 4:00pm.  There will be lots of jobs on the list to spruce up the club house, yard and harbour and get ready for our 2014 summer sailing season.  Stay tuned for further notices.

In the meantime, we are still looking for guys (or girls - with steel toed boots, hard hats and life jackets) to help with the wall repairs.  Last week we had 9 nine people, which is an improvement, but we need more people.  As mentioned last week, two teams can be formed - one handling driving piles and one handling tie backs.

Please come out and help Stephen and his team with these very important repairs.

We've been advised by the Parks Department that on
Monday, March 17, 2014, the water will be shut off to the whole of Ashbridge's Bay area.

In case the weather is good and members have intentions of working on their boats, you will need to know that there will be no water, no washrooms etc. at the club.

We are asking that you either stop into the office and we'll take your picture (don't worry, we allow smiles) or you can send us a photograph (similar to a passport photograph), please just a headshot.

Please send photographs to:  officeadministrator@abyc.on.ca

Many thanks
