Winter 2014 Sea Wall Repair

The sea wall repair project has begun in earnest!  That work continues with more sheets to drive, tie-back to repairs, workers in whalers to install the new cap.  But only you can make this happen.  Last weekend the crew was too small to tackle all these tasks even when the weather was good.

PLEASE come out for all the next Saturdays to come until the job is complete.  It takes a lot of effort by a lot of members to make this happen.

Dear Members,

It's that time of year again, I will be away on vacation from March 2nd until March 29th.  During this time Lidia will be happy to look after you as she always does and should you wish information about the yard then Mike is the person to contact and he will also be happy to help you.

Sue Hamilton
Sue's coming back soon!
__________________________________________________________

By now you're probably getting pretty bored with winter weather and you're anxious to get going with spring stuff but you don't really know where to start.  There's also the problem of getting those pesky 20 contribution hours done.

Well, this anxiety will go away soon because Sue Hamilton is coming back to Ship2Shore with a nice long list of ABYC Things-To-Do

Look for Sue in future editions of Ship2Shore with her solution to all your "To-Do" problems.

Meanwhile, Sue has a special appeal for workers for this weekend:

Regular work party communications to start next week, but one work project cannot wait.  Help desperately needed!  The wall repair project is continuing throughout this winter (the coldest damn winter in recent memory!)  The guys are valiantly out there week in and week out working - I even saw pictures of Stephen, Tom and others digging the pile driver out of the ice.  Looked liked a pretty frosty endeavour.  The ice is breaking up these days, and the weather should be getting a little warmer (a balmy -2C this Saturday!).

Please come out and lend a hand - last week we had only four people and therefore could not drive sheets.  Even though there is a great commitment from the team, not everyone can show up every week.

There is enough steel driven now that other work can be done in parallel, enough work for another 5 - 6 people to get tie-backs in.

We could really use another 10 - 12 guys to sign up for the project, to help fill in when others can't make and to form a second team.

We are asking that you either stop into the office and we'll take your picture (don't worry, we allow smiles) or you can send us a photograph (similar to a passport photograph), please just a headshot.

Please send photographs to:  officeadministrator@abyc.on.ca

Many thanks
