Just under four months to launch!  For me personally the sailing season starts this weekend with the Boat Show and all the fun that that brings.  I hope you all had a great holiday season.

This past week an issue came up when people were making reservations for Celtic night January 25th.  Some people were asked to pay ahead of time.  This IS NOT our policy in taking reservations for events with the exception of the Commodore's Ball.  Certainly if you wish, the office can charge your account but it is not necessary.  You are not asked to pre-pay when you make a reservation at a downtown restaurant so why should you at your club.  But while we are on the subject..... If you are planning on coming to the club on a Friday evening or planning on bringing a group from the office on a Wednesday night, please give the Club a shout.  It gives the kitchen a good heads up on how much to prep for the evening.

At the Levee, it was a pleasure to be able to walk in through our new entrance.  True it is not complete due to some weather delays but when finished it will definitely enhance the front of the clubhouse.  I would like to thank Cindy Sampson who got the ball rolling on this project; and to Mike Robertson and Harvey Harman for all of their efforts in the design and selecting of a contractor to do the project.  For Mike this will be the end of his "career" as head of the Property Department.  For many years Mike has looked after the physical plant of our club, that being the clubhouse and junior sailing school.  I would like to thank Mike for all of his time and effort in keeping the clubhouse a warm and inviting place for the members.  Mike you have left some pretty big shoes to fill.  If anyone is interested in taking on this position please let me know.

The Cruising Awards Night is scheduled for the evening of Friday, January 17th.
Come on out for our annual mid-winter "Shore Cruise" where we can get together with our cruising friends over dinner for some laughs and celebrate the 2013 cruising season.

The awards presentation will begin around 8:00pm.  You don't need to come for dinner but if you are having dinner beforehand please make reservations with the club staff.

Clothing Swap - January 19th
- Kathy Deemar
___________________________________________________________

Having trouble fitting all that lovely new clothing into your closets?  Wondering if that dress still suits you?  Well here's a good reason to clean house!  We're having a clothing swap!

Here's how it works - bring any clothing, shoes, purses, hats gloves, scarves, belts, coats, boots, (well you get the idea!) to ABYC.  Try to bring at least a bag full and please make sure it's in wearable condition (clean, with all the buttons, working zippers - if you couldn't wear it don't bring it!).  Then the fun begins.  We all try on, sort through all the stuff and can leave with whatever "new" treasures we've found!  Whatever is left over will be donated to charity.

So come join the fun, clean out your closets and give to charity!  What more can you ask for!  See you Sunday, January 19th starting at 1:00 pm.

You can start bringing your bags of stuff down and leaving them with the office staff from now until the day of the swap.  Or bring your bag of goodies with you the day of the swap.
