If it is July, it must be PCYC Race Month! The Port Credit Yacht Club annually hosts three major events in July, starting with the PCYC LORC Open Regatta. Then came the Lake Ontario 300 which lasted for days and days and days. Even the volunteers were exhausted by the time the first boat finally crossed the finish line on Tuesday morning. One boat didn't finish until almost noon on Thursday. Yikes! As reported last week, ABYC boats did very well in the endurance contest and the ABYC team of
Crime Scene,
Lively and
Umi Taka proved victorious in the Skippers' Plan Club Team Challenge. Congratulations to all!
Preliminary results were posted last week, but the full final results can be found at

This past weekend, PCYC hosted the Steerers' Junior Regatta on Thursday and Friday, followed by the Four Sisters Regatta on Saturday and Sunday. With approximately 700 competitors over the four days, the volunteers from all participating clubs are still recovering. Congratulations to Paul Brennan and his crew aboard the Sarah Ashbridge and the Jack Cameron for a job well done.
Thursday saw some exciting racing, but nothing compared to the wild winds of Friday, where only the strong (or insane) survived. Congratulations to Hunter Dejean who finished 10th in the Opti Blue Fleet and Roland Goddard for his 7th place finish in the red fleet.
Adam Gillies was 4th in the Laser fleet while Kyle Harvey placed 8th.
Our top radial sailor was Ainsley Doell at 26th in the 60 boat fleet. Our top 420 was James Hogan and Chloe Congordeau.
Bridget Latka finished SECOND in the Opti Green Fleet of 38 boats while Paul Workmann was ninth and Nathan Latka 12th. Congratulations to all. Full results are at

The Four Sisters event saw ABYC boats bring home some flags as well.
Martin Staadecker was fifth in the Blue Opti fleet and his brother Paul was 7th. Hunter Dejean wa

s 10th and Oliver van Rossem was 11th. Quentin Beelik was 7th in the red fleet with Rowland Goddard 10th. Paul Workmann was 13th in the green fleet.
In Laser Radials, Sheawn Gershman came FIFTH in the 62 boat fleet, while just about the oldest competitor in the event,
Nick Bailey came SECOND in the Laser fleet and won the Master's division (see photo). Adam Gillies was 8th and Jeff Dejean was ninth, while Kyle Harvey placed 16th. Full results are at

Well Done Team ABYC!
Locally, the
Summer Bell Buoy Race was held last Sunday in very light air and lumpy seas. Most of the participants didn't finish, however, some of the spinnaker Division boats did manage to get all the way around the course. Finishing order was
Sona,
Crime Scene, Lively and
The Cat Came Back.

Summer Bell Buoy Race
Finally, the Laser North Americans start mid week at Kingston Yacht Club and the keelboats will be headed off to race in the very last Youngstown Level Regatta this weekend.
That's it for now.
