Are you going away this weekend?
- Debbie Dockray & Don Sturgeon
_________________________________________________________________________

A gentle reminder to our cruising sailors that the dock bosuns need to keep track of which slips will be vacant on any particular weekend so they can accommodate incoming visitors.   If you are intending to be away this weekend or any weekend please let them know as early as possible so they can plan ahead.

In particular, this weekend we will be hosting the incoming cruise from Mimico Cruising Club and we will require as many slips as we can free up, so if you are planning to be away Saturday night this weekend please send an e-mail to the office to let them know so Mike and his crew can fit the visitors in.

Thank you for your consideration.

Race Committee Help Please!
- Calum Semple
________________________________________________________________________

PCYC Steerers (July 18/19) and PCYC Four Sisters (July 20/21) - one or two more helpers needed.  We are running the Optimist course so this is s great chance for parents to get a close up of your kids in action.

ABYC Summer Bell Buoy (July 21) - race committee (couple of people) please (will be run from a mark boat)

And last but not least, we still are short on our Thursday night race crew  and would like some more helpers please.  This is a great chance to learn the ropes if you can only spare a few hours every week and not a whole weekend.

Thanks

Juniors at USODA Optimist Nationals
- Sarah Douglas, Coach
______________________________________________________________________________

The Junior Race Team has started its summer with a bang!  The team has returned from the USODA Optimist Nationals in Grosse Pointe, Detroit.  The US Nationals attracted 247 sailors for four intense days of racing.   Sailors came from across North America with a few international sailors.  The conditions were tricky as the winds were light and shifty, but luckily at ABYC we practice in light winds for the majority of the summer.  After a qualifying series held over the first two days, our team was placed in the second division of Silver.  We had ups and downs and a few black flags and OCSs, but we also enjoyed a highlight of Quinten Beelik placing 10th in a race!  Overall the Junior Race Team was pushed to their limits and ended up with great results and a great experience!

The final Silver division results were: Quinten Beelik - 66,  Jack Peabody - 79, Martin Staadecker - 83, Paul Staadecker - 129

The Junior Race Team will be building on this experience when heading to Port Credit Yacht Club to compete in the Four Sisters Regatta.

HELP WANTED
CREW-BANK COORDINATOR

We are looking for someone to take over the duties of the Crew-Bank Coordinator for race nights on Tuesday evenings. The primary duty here is to be available at the club on Tuesday evenings from approx. 5:30 to 6:00 P.M. in order to help place sailors looking to crew on club boats for the Tuesday night races.

We have six Tuesday night races left for the sailing season, and the club may run a 4 evening Fall Series depending on demand.

Familiarity with the skippers racing in the JaM, Spinnaker, J24 and Thunderbird fleets is helpful, but not essential.

If you are presently racing on Tuesday nights and looking to complement your crew, this is a job for you.

Please contact Paul McDonald, pmcdonald@hoganchev.com, or cell-phone 416-816-0578

Also, as a notice to all the club racers competing on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, please remember to make yourself known to the Crew Bank Coordinators (who will be in the club's lounge) that you can take on additional crew - and help our newer members to ABYC integrate into the club.

Tuesday evenings - contact Murray Gainer (until further notice)

Thursday evenings - contact Rebecca Crumlish
