On Saturday, we informed our members of the passing of Senior Member David Hughes. The following obituary appeared in the Toronto Star on Monday, December 31, 2012

David Robert HUGHES

 

HUGHES, David Robert - Passed away unexpectedly at home on December 29, 2012 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Rosemary. His greatest accomplishment was his two sons Sean (Candice) and Geoff (John). Loving grandfather of Morgan. Predeceased by his mother Elsie Dorothy Hughes (nee Saltmarsh). Lovingly remembered by his sisters- in-law Edie (Johnnie) and Heather and by nieces Brigitte, Jessica and Candice and great-niece Emily. David was a graduate of Trinity College School Class of '47, his home away from home. Upon leaving school he joined the RCAF as a Fighter Pilot. He was an avid Sailor at Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club in Toronto, an active member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, volunteer at the Canadian Aviation Museum in Downsview and a classic car enthusiast, Jaguar and Corvair being two of his favourites. He retired from Manulife after 42 years as a Pension Consultant.  

 

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A luncheon will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Condolences   www.rskane.ca
