September is Fells Arts Month at the Beebe Estate Gallery
235 West Foster Street, Melrose, MA.
This year's theme is Nature, our most precious resource. The show features
art of over 20 artists of various media from around the region depicting
nature being celebrated, nature under threat, and nature being preserved.
During Fells Art month the film Trashed will be screened. In this 2012
documentary, Jeremy Irons sets out to discover the extent and effects of the
global waste problem, as he travels around the world to beautiful destinations
tainted by pollution. This is a meticulous, brave investigative journey
that takes Irons (and us) from skepticism to sorrow and from horror to hope.
The film was selected to receive a Special Screening at the 2013 Cannes Film
Festival.
Opening reception is September 5 from 7-9 pm.
Gallery hours are held each Saturday in September from 11am to 3pm.

September. Whoa. Having closed out August with record-high temperatures, it's hard to believe the calendar. But beer doesn't lie, and this month our shelves will be full of the fun tastes of fall: Pumpkin Beer, Hard Cider (which we actually love year-round), Fall "Harvest" Beers (many of which feature fresh, local grains and hops), and Oktoberfest Beers!
Yes, that's right, Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany actually begins on September 20th! Come by any time throughout the month and ask our Staff "Beer Geeks" about September's "Style of the Month" and the origins of Oktoberfest. If you'd like to try some of our favorites, we're hosting a special tasting on Friday, September 19th from 5-7pm featuring some awesome German & American Oktoberfest beers. As always, there is no fee to attend and no advance registration is required.
And a big THANK YOU to everyone that came out for our recent "Chew and Brew" co-hosted with our friends and neighbors Stone Hearth Pizza. Attendees enjoyed expertly paired pizza and beer, while learning about some of New England's best and fastest growing breweries. If the picture below whets your appetite, ask our Certified Beer Servers about their top pizza and beer combos!
