CHANGES TO EXEMPT EMPLOYEE STATUS 



On May 18, 2016, the Department of Labor announced their Final Rule updating the overtime regulations, which will impact employees who may currently be classified as Exempt and not entitled to overtime pay.  Employers may want to take this opportunity to audit employee job descriptions to ensure that those employees, whose salary does not meet the new minimum, still qualify for Exempt status based on the DOL's SALARY BASIS TEST.

Friday, June 3, the Bethlehem Public Library will have a special live performance of a re-enacted World War II Armed Forces broadcast hosted by author and historian Rev. Gary Ferris. This event is free and open to everyone and will take place from 1-2pm in the Community Room. Ferris will take on the role of an Armed Forces officer and host of the show, featuring letters from soldiers and their sweethearts, the hottest tunes of the day, period advertising spots, a war bond promo, and news from both fronts.

On Tuesday, June 7, the State of New York will launch a new Cyber Security Initiative titled "5 Steps To Better Cybersecurity" for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses, Local Governments, Not-For-Profit Organizations, and IT and E-commerce vendors.  The event will be held from 10am-12pm at the Empire State Plaza, Meeting Room 6 in Albany.  The presentation will take participants through the set of steps that will help them identify what they have at risk and what they need to protect them.
